There are many security solutions in the form of antivirus that we can use right now. Kaspersky is one of the most important developers, but at the moment it is surrounded by considerable controversy that we are going to tell you about.

A large number of users use some of this company’s security solutions on their different devices around the world. In fact, Kaspersky antivirus and its suites have been accompanying us and protecting our computers for many years. However, throughout this time, various suspicions have sometimes been raised about possible espionage carried out by the software itself.

Now this is something that has been put back on the table and as expected, it comes from the United States Government. In case any of you don’t know, this is a security company that has Russian origins, hence the controversy generated. Well, from what has just been learned, the United States Government has decreed a ban on the use of this specific antivirus. This is an official statement that the Biden administration has already announced.

We are talking about a rather drastic decision that has been made based on a series of investigations carried out by the country’s Department of Commerce. Through these reports, it has been concluded that the Russian antivirus, Kaspersky, presents some security-related risks that could be considered unacceptable.

We must take into consideration that political relations between both countries are currently in one of their worst phases. Hence, the North American Government has prohibited the use of this software due to dangers related to espionage.

Consequences of blocking the use of Kaspersky

Due to all this that we are telling you, the Government has made the determination that starting next July 20, it will not be possible to purchase a single Kaspersky software license in the country. As you can imagine, there are many North American users who use this antivirus. Hence, the second step, based on the decisions made, is that antivirus updates will be blocked starting next September 29.

So much so that the aforementioned Department of Commerce alludes to possible espionage by the antivirus on the devices where it is installed. We must keep in mind that at this time the Kaspersky company, and its software products, are subject to the jurisdiction of Russia. Basically, this means that the company is forced to comply with any requirement of this Government.

In addition to blocking the use of these security solutions in the North American country, the marketing of this developer’s software products will also be pursued. As it could not be otherwise, the United States Government itself recommends using an alternative security solution on the devices of its citizens from among the many available.

In this way they will be able to continue protecting their computers, but without the risk of espionage that they allege that Kaspersky software could be carrying out in the background.
