In the same way that you can use WhatsApp on your computer from its web platform, you can also consult iMessage, the iPhone messaging app, on a Windows PC. This is a less well-known option, since initially, and like other native Apple applications, this only seems to be available for devices in the Apple ecosystem. Next, we explain how you can access your iPhone messages from Windows, knowing, of course, that it is only possible in Windows 11.
Straight to the point: there are two applications with which it is possible to consult iMessage on the computer as if it were WhatsApp Web. These are Microsoft Phone Link and Intel Unison. Its operation is simple.
Starting with Phone Link, Microsoft’s official application to connect smartphones with its operating system, what we will have to do is access the program or install it from Microsoft Store, if we don’t have it. As we said, we will have to have an updated version of Windows 11, since Phone Link began to be compatible with the Apple app in early 2023. Before starting, activate Bluetooth on your computer.
Using Phone Link
To establish the connection, open the Phone Link app and select iPhone under the phrase “Select your device” (you should see something similar when you open the app for the first time). A QR code will appear on the screen, which you must scan from your iPhone camera. The code should guide you to an app that you will need to download to your iPhone, called ‘Link to Windows’.
The rest of the process should be easy, simply following the steps that will be shown on your iPhone and computer screens. You may have to enter a numeric code to pair the devices and click ‘Pair’.
A window will appear asking if you want to allow your PC to receive notifications from your iPhone. You will have to accept it, so that Windows can notify you when you receive a new message through iMessage. Then, you can go to Bluetooth on your iPhone to share your data with Windows by tapping the information icon next to your computer displayed in the device list. With the latter you can have access to your contacts and groups.
With this you should be able to control iMessage from Windows, and you can configure Phone Link to start automatically alongside Windows, if you always want to have access to the messages app on your computer.
Using Intel Unison
The process with the Intel Unison application is going to be very similar. Download the application on your computer from Microsoft Store. Start the program and click ‘Accept and continue’. A screen will ask you how you want to use the application, and on it you will click on the ‘Add your phone’ option. Next, scan the QR code displayed from the iPhone camera, which will take you to the app download in the App Store. Open it and decide if you want to share crash data and statistics with Intel.
Afterwards, the app will ask you for access to your contacts, photo gallery, devices and Bluetooth. The minimum will be to give you access to your contacts and, probably, also to Bluetooth, since otherwise we would not be able to send messages from Windows. Finally, you will have to scan a new QR code displayed in the computer program, after which you will have the application configured. You should be able to send messages from both Windows and iPhone and see them sync across both devices.
