It is not a new scam, but Vodafone did not want to miss the opportunity to alert all its customers again. Because? Basically because it is one of the scams most recently used by cybercriminals to deceive users. For this reason, the red operator takes the opportunity to remember what the double call scam is so that people do not fall into this trap that can be quite expensive.

In recent times, operators have had to deal with a scam that many of their customers fall into. And all because of how well it is made. More than anything, because the method that cybercriminals use is to call twice to make it look like it is real. But nothing could be further from the truth, it is part of their strategy to scam people.

Your operator is not really calling you

If an operator is going to change the conditions, they will not notify you by phone. Telephone companies can make changes, such as price increases, discontinuing rates, etc. However, communication with you will be via email or even through the customer portal. And they will never call you to raise the price. In addition, they are obliged to do so one month in advance so that you can make the decision to stay or go to another telephone company.

For this reason, if you receive a first call that supposedly informs you of changes in the conditions of your rate (contract) and, later, you receive a second call from the competition with which they improve the conditions, all you have to do is hang up. . Don’t waste your time, the best recommendation is that you don’t continue talking even during the first call.

More than anything because that’s how the double call scam works. In these, they impersonate the identity of your company and the other operator, which is supposedly the competition. With this scam they may want to get you to provide your personal and banking information. Or, also, their final intention may be for you to change companies. And it not only affects this operator, but also many other companies.

Vodafone advice

To make it clearer than ever, as a Vodafone customer, the operator gives a series of advice through its profile on the company. If you are already a customer and want to hire a new service, they will ask you for partial data in order to verify your identity, nothing more.

On the other hand, the operator explains that they will not call you to inform you of a price increase. So you should never give your personal or banking information. And if you have already fallen into the trap, you have to contact your bank. Furthermore, if you think you are a victim of a scam, “you can report it to the Civil Guard, National Police or Incibe (017),” as Vodafone explains.
