In the summer of 2022, Windows 11 has already completed its first year of life, a year full of problems and criticism from users that are causing its adoption to be much lower than expected. With the arrival of its first major update, 22H2, some long-awaited updates by users arrived, many problems were corrected, but new problems also arrived in the system. And it is that 2022 has not been a particularly good year for this new Windows 11. Luckily, we are already in the final stretch, and very soon we will begin a new year full of wishes and hopes for Windows 11.

Although it is true that Windows 11 is gradually gaining a lot of market share, it is still far from surpassing Windows 10. And much more so that users end up considering it a good operating system. There are many reasons for this, but one of them is the unnecessary increase in the minimum requirements. Specifically, the requirement to have a TPM 2.0 chip in order to install the operating system.

Considering that Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 end of support in January, and that Windows 10 has only 2 years left to live, we hope that Microsoft will reconsider and allow you to upgrade to Windows 11 without this requirement, even if some functions are limited.

Another new thing we expect to see in Windows 11 in 2023 is a major bug and issue fix. And it is that, since its launch, this system has been dragging a large number of problems, in addition to introducing more and more. For a gaming operating system, performance also leaves a lot to be desired. Therefore, we hope that Microsoft will stop so much useless novelty and focus part of the development of the 2023 update on correcting problems and improving the general performance of the operating system, especially in gaming.

News and new functions for 2023

In addition to the internal improvements, we would also like to see some new features in the operating system that would make it more modern and useful. Some of them we can already see first-hand thanks to the Insider program, such as a native screen recorder, or improvements in News and Interests. But we still expect many more improvements, and many of them are due to many changes that were removed from Windows 11. For example, being able to see the names of the windows in the taskbar. Or make it easier to pin apps and programs to it. Another very interesting novelty that we would also like to see is found in the start menu, specifically in the possibility of customizing it much more.

Other improvements that we would like to see in Windows 11 are, among others:

  • Ability to move tabs between browser windows.
  • A revamp of the file explorer.
  • New backup features with OneDrive (without having to move the folder).
  • Dynamic backgrounds in the purest macOS style.
  • Temperature gauge in task manager for CPU and SSDs.

These are our requests for Windows 11 that we want to see next year. Now, to be honest, it is difficult for us to see them. And it is that Microsoft does not usually listen much to the community when it comes to requesting new options or functions, and the most likely thing is that the first thing we will see will be more publicity and attempts to get us to pay for their subscriptions, both Office and Xbox GamePass.
