It’s been a long wait, but it’s here. Right now, Microsoft has just started distributing what will be the largest Windows 11 update to date: 24H2. This new version of Windows has been in development for months, and comes loaded with changes, improvements and novelties of all kinds with which to continue demonstrating that it is a modern operating system, suitable for new times.
Microsoft should have launched this new version of Windows last week, although due to various last-minute problems it had to postpone its launch. But it was clear that this week was not going to happen. Just yesterday we saw the first ISO images of Windows 11 24H2, designed for professional environments. And, today, the new update is finally among us.
The list of new features in Windows 11 24H2 is very extensive. In the previous article we have detailed all the changes that have come with this new update. But, as a summary, we can highlight the following:
- Lots of Artificial Intelligence. In addition to a new version of Copilot+ and Recall, many of the operating system’s programs now feature advanced AI features.
- File explorer improvements. We can find new options when compressing files from the explorer. Also a refined design and the ability to more easily edit the metadata of photos and videos.
- New taskbar. We will be able to create shortcut pages for pinned programs, and it has received a large number of fixes to address major user concerns.
- Superuser Do. The “sudo” command comes to Windows 11. Developers will be able to enable this command to be able to execute commands with administrator permissions from the Windows terminal.
- New start menu. In addition to the task bar, Windows 11 has renewed the start menu. Now it is much faster and easier, and it also allows us to see a panel with the information from our Android mobile connected to the PC.
- New printer driver “Windows Protected Print (WPP)”
- Support for Wi-Fi 7.
How to install Windows 11 24H2 right now
The new version of Windows 11 will reach all users through Windows Update, as usual. Although at the moment it will not be installed automatically. To install it, what we will have to do is enter Windows Update, and manually search for new updates for our PC. The update will appear, which we will have to download and install from here so that, after a restart, we will have the system up to date.
Why doesn’t the update appear? As on other occasions, the new 24H2 of Windows 11 is having a gradual launch throughout the country. In the United States, for example, it has already begun to appear, but in Europe it seems that it has not arrived at the moment. It is only a matter of time (a few hours, between today and tomorrow) before the update appears to all users.
But, if you don’t want to wait, you have other ways to update. For example, Microsoft already has the official Windows 11 24H2 ISOs, which you can download to do a clean installation of the operating system on any PC.
Our recommendation is that you make a backup copy of the most important data and wait for it to reach Windows Update. It will almost certainly not cause errors or problems when updating, but, just in case, it is better to be prepared. We will update as we have more information.
