A very interesting time is approaching for Microsoft’s operating system, Windows. We say this because there are many new features that the software giant is preparing and will soon make available to us, as is the case with the long-awaited Copilot AI.

The company is working hard on its new Windows 11, specifically on the updates that will gradually reach us with interesting functions. At this time it is worth noting that Microsoft is about to launch Windows Copilot as part of the cumulative update for next October 2023. This is an update valid for version 22H2 of the aforementioned Windows 11.

In fact, this long-awaited feature is already included in the update for Insider users that was released this September. Of course, we must take into consideration that Copilot is not yet available in all countries, something that will be resolved shortly. By now I’m sure many of you already know that this is a feature based on Artificial Intelligence integrated into the operating system itself by Microsoft.

Here the functionality provided by Bing Chat is combined, with some Windows-specific control options. For example, we will have the possibility to carry out tasks such as activating dark mode or taking screenshots. To interact with this function, all we have to do is click on an icon located on the system taskbar. We see this next to the search box in this section. We can also activate the feature with the Win + C key combination.

This is how we can get rid of ads in Copilot

At that moment the AI opens like a small sidebar on the desktop itself, an area reserved for all of this. This part is reserved for this element so that we have it on the screen while we work with other applications or are playing. However, Microsoft here is also using some practices used in other sections of Windows that most will not like.

Specifically, we are referring to the advertisements that some are finding in this section, which in principle focuses on the use of AI. We tell you all this because Windows Insider users are encountering advertising when they interact with the Copilot function. Thus, depending on the query we ask the Artificial Intelligence, in addition to the corresponding response it shows us third-party ads, which may be somewhat unpleasant for some.

copilot advertising

Of course, not all interactions with Windows Copilot will show ads, but a good percentage of queries will. This is in addition to the arrival of advertising in other sections of the system such as the Start Menu, Help or the Settings application. The main difference is that in these sections we find advertisements for products and services from Microsoft itself, and CoPilot shows suggestions from third parties.

The only solution to get rid of them is a bit radical, but we would have no choice but to deactivate Windows Copilot. Everything will depend on how annoying those third-party ads are that we encounter when interacting with the AI.
