Today, May 24, marks the 50th anniversary of the birth of BMW Motorsport and, therefore, the German brand has launched a new limited series for the M3 and M4: 50 Jahre BMW M, even more radical and exclusive than usual.
The 50 Jahre BMW M editions are intended for specific markets. Thus, the M3 50 Jahre BMW M is exclusive to the United States and Canada, and a numbered limited edition of 500 units has been confirmed. The M4 50 Jahre BMW M will be for Europe and China, although in each area it will have different specifications and its number has not been specified.
Starting with the BMW M3 50 Jahre BMW M, it is available in five different body colors (Vermilion Red, Techno Violet, Interlagos Blue, Fire Orange and Limerock Grey), always with numerous M Performance Parts installed, forged wheels finished in Orbit Gray matt, titanium and carbon exhaust, interior plates and a specific upholstery.
The BMW M4 50 Jahre BMW M for Europe can be sported in five exterior colors (Carbon Black, Macao Blue, Brands Hatch Grey, Imola Red and San Marino Blue) and fitted with 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels in Orbit Gray or Gold. Bronze, both matte finishes.
The offer is more limited for the version that will go to China, with a tonal selection inspired by the year of the tiger: Fire Orange with Orbit Gray wheels or Stratus Gray with the shoe finished in Gold Bronze. Both the M4s of one market and those of another have door sills, a plaque on the center console and embroidery on the seats with the name of the edition.
Of course, BMW has chosen not to include mechanical improvements in the 50 Jahre BMW M, which are based on the Competition versions, which implies that they mount a six-cylinder in-line biturbo engine that develops 510 hp. In addition, you can choose between a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed automatic transmission, as well as between rear or integral traction.
