Available in two versions
In 2012, Renault pulled a peculiar electric car out of its hat. In reality, it was a quadricycle available in two versions, with a very striking design and designed exclusively for the city. If you are looking for a second-hand Renault Twizy, at what price and in what condition are they?
It seems incredible, but the Renault Twizy is ten years old. The first time the French brand showed it was at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, still in a conceptual version. It was not until 2012 when we met the final model, which ended up hitting the streets.
The 5 worst rivals of the Renault Austral
The Twizy turned heads from every angle. It measured 2.33 meters long, 1.39 meters wide and 1.45 meters high, the wheelbase was 1.68 meters and it had a track width of 1.09 meters at the front and 1.08 meters at the rear.
Built on a tubular chassis, it had a very exotic design that still attracts attention today, halfway between a car and a motorcycle, and it weighed only 474 kilos. The interior was sober and minimalist, with a single seat or two, in tandem position.
Renault’s first steps towards electric mobility
The French brand began to take the first steps towards electric mobility through the ZE (Zero Emissions) program, which included, in addition to the Twizy, the Renault Fluence ZE and the Renault Zoe that appeared in 2012.
Renault’s electric quadricycle was an interesting product, designed to circulate exclusively in the city, increasingly clogged with traffic, with problems moving around and parking.
It was available with two motors: one with 4 kW (5 hp) and 33 Nm of torque and another with 8 kW (11 hp) and 57 Nm, both with the same 6.1 kWh battery pack. The most basic version reached 45 km/h and the most powerful reached up to 80 km/h. The battery needs almost two hours to recharge with a 10A Schuko type plug.
Renault approved a range of 100 kilometres, although, in real conditions, the 5 CV version could travel between 80 and 100 kilometers and the 11 CV version between 48 and 72 kilometers.
The equipment was not very abundant. It didn’t have things like power steering or ABS and ESP systems. Neither air conditioning nor heating, but it did have two seat belts with pretensioners and an airbag for the driver.
The Renault Twizy range was structured in a single finish for the least powerful version, Life 45, and six for the most powerful, Life 80, Intens Black, Intens White, Intens Blue, Intens Red and Cargo.
Second-hand Renault Twizy, at what price and in what condition are they?
Currently, you can get a second-hand Renault Twizy at a very attractive price. Most of the available options correspond to the most powerful variant, with the 11 hp engine.
An interesting aspect is that these types of vehicles do not usually cover long distances, since they are designed to make short and urban journeys. Therefore, most usually have a low mileage, less than 20,000 kilometers.
Price of a second-hand Renault Twizy? The Life 45 version moves between 3,500 and 5,000 euros, while the most powerful variant moves between 6,000 and 10,000 euros, depending on the mileage.
