The 2023 Mercedes A-Class is the long-awaited mid-life update to the fourth generation of the German compact. As could be ventured, it is a slight update that slightly retouches the image of the model, subtly modifies the interior and bets on microhybridization for most of its mechanical range.
At first glance, it is difficult to distinguish it from the pre-facelift Mercedes A-Class, since the aesthetic changes are minimal: the front grille is slightly modified, the interior design of the headlights, both front and rear; and the rear diffuser.
Not much more important are the innovations in the cabin, which are limited to a new steering wheel with the lower part and a restructuring of the center console, which now incorporates a circular knob to control the MBUX infotainment system.
This, as standard, uses a 7-inch digital instrument panel and a 10.25 central screen, although it can optionally have the same size. In a complementary way, certain finishes and materials change in the different levels of equipment.
It has also been used to improve its endowment and Mercedes has decided to incorporate the rear camera or the USB pack as standard throughout the range, while superior finishes add elements such as the Mirror Package, the Parking Package, lumbar support in the seats or the LED headlights.
Where the important changes are concentrated is in the mechanical section since, except for the plug-in hybrid variant and the top-of-the-range AMG, all combustion engines receive micro-hybrid technology and leave aside the manual transmission to be exclusively automatic.
Thus, the range is made up of the following versions: A 180 d with 116 CV, A 200 d with 150 CV, A 220 d with 190 CV, A 180 with 136 CV, A 200 with 163 CV, A 220 with 190 CV and At 250, with 224 hp. Above is the A 250 and plug-in hybrid with 218 hp and the two AMGs, the Mercedes AMG A35 with 306 hp and the AMG A45 with 421 hp.
