More than 170 complaints in an operation against illegal car racing in Zaragoza

The Civil Guard and the Zaragoza Local Police have processed more than 170 sanctions with fifty vehicles involved in a macro operation against illegal car racing in Zaragoza.

The “Quedadas PTR” operation began last July when both police forces received complaints from residents warning of the holding of street car races in the PTR López Soriano industrial estate, in the La Cartuja neighborhood.

During the months that the investigation has lasted, the agents (more than 70 troops have been part of the team) have identified dozens of participating vehicles; They have also located a clandestine workshop that operated in the area without the corresponding license.

More than 170 tickets in one night

The participants in the illegal races organized the meetings through social networks. The nights in which the concentrations were held, hundreds of people gathered, between runners and spectators.

During the raid, the Civil Guard and the Local Police recorded the dangerous maneuvers of the drivers at the wheel of sports cars from a local industrial estate. In the images published by the agents, it can be seen how several vehicles wait their turn while a black one skids at a roundabout.

The police operation has resulted in more than 170 complaints, in three months, for crimes and infractions of reckless driving. Only during the night of October 1, there have been 61 complaints processed, including the immobilization of a participating vehicle.

According to the Civil Guard, among the infractions detected are, in addition to reckless driving and carrying out illegal races, others such as the lack of compulsory insurance, lack of technical inspection of vehicles in force, important reforms in passenger cars or possession of narcotic substances.

“Of these behaviors, at least six are being investigated as a crime,” say the agents responsible for the investigation.
