The NamX HUV is a prototype car powered by hydrogen, using interchangeable capsule technology housed in the rear. could arrive in 2025
The 2022 Paris Motor Show has been the setting chosen by the French company NamX Hydrogen for the launch of a revolutionary hydrogen SUV, developed in collaboration with Pininfarina. It’s the NamX HUV.
The NamX HUV is the result of five years of work to create a French hydrogen vehicle that would spread the company’s environmental values and principles, combined with its passion for mobility.
The HUV name refers to Hydrogen Sport Utility and represents a completely new approach. The car sports a futuristic design, the work of Pininfarina, where the presence of hydrogen tanks coupled to a kind of diffuser stands out.
As in any SUV, it has a high beltline and a rugged look, combined with smooth, aerodynamic surfaces. Also striking is its fastback-like silhouette, in line with the current trend of producing coupe-like crossovers.
At the front, it sports a large X-shaped grille, honoring the brand’s name, and a single optical group that runs from one end to the other, in which the turn signals are integrated.

Design aside, the highlight of the NamX HUV is its revolutionary hydrogen-powered propulsion system using interchangeable hydrogen capsule technology.
This technology consists of seven tanks, one main and six smaller ones, which are interchangeable capsules and are housed in the rear. According to the French company, the capsules can be changed in 30 seconds.

Depending on the version, rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, the powertrain can generate 300 or 550 hp. The sportier variant, called the GTH, is expected to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 250 km/h.
To power the engines, NamX intends to use green hydrogen, which will be manufactured in Morocco. In this way, the hydrogen SUV would truly be a zero-emission vehicle.
The NamX HUV has just been unveiled at the 2022 Paris Motor Show and the development phase will start after that. It is expected to hit the market in 2025 and prices could range between 65,000 and 95,000 euros.
