Here you have a complete list that includes all Renault models that are equipped with a Mercedes engine and are on sale in Spain in 2022.
Much has been made of the Renault-powered Mercedes that are for sale or have been in the past. It is an issue that has been talked about and, although the association between Daimler and the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance is dissolving, there are still engines that are shared between both brands.
What has not been talked about so much is all the Renaults with a Mercedes engine that are sold in Spain in 2022, an issue that needs to be pointed out a bit to better understand how the distribution of engines between both manufacturers has been structured.
Engines developed jointly between Daimler and Renault
To begin with, no Renault is equipped with an engine that has been entirely developed by Mercedes-Benz. In fact, there are only two mechanics that we can find in models of the two brands and the French manufacturer has a majority stake in both.
It is the 1.5-liter, four-cylinder K9K diesel block, a Renault engine that the company produces at the Valladolid factory. This engine is only mounted on the new generation Mercedes Citan and Mercedes T-Class, but it is present in several Renault models.
On the other hand, the 1.3-liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine is a joint development between Daimler and Renault, and is present in the entire compact range of the German manufacturer, which includes the Mercedes A-Class, CLA, B-Class, GLA and GLB, as well as the aforementioned Citan and T-Class. This engine is also equipped with models from Renault, Dacia and Nissan.
