The curious three-wheeled roadster from Iwata’s firm is updated with many new features, including a revised engine, and the Yamaha Niken GT 2023 looks the same, but no.

Externally there is no change, unless you are an expert in Niken. Yes, the black livery with metallic bronze chassis and suspension is also new. Technically, the tubular steel chassis is now more reinforced on the sides and the head tube.

The rear suspension and linkages are also reinforced, whose main pillar is now made of forged aluminum instead of steel.

The front suspension by Ackerman system, the twin 15” front wheels, the braking system, the swingarm or the 17” rear wheel do not change either.

Receive many changes and add new suitcases.

The fairing or the optical equipment does not change either, like the tail, but it receives a more comfortable seat, and new side cases with a larger capacity, 30 liters.

In the command post, it stands out that the throttle grip is now ride by wire with YCC-T and the throttle position sensor (APSG), instead of the annual system of steel cables and pulleys.

Another big change is the new instrumentation with a 7” TFT screen and Bluetooth connectivity with the Yamaha MyRide app, and with the information available in three interfaces, Street, Sport and Tour.

The black and bronze decoration gives it a premium touch.

In the Niken GT 2023 the engine increases in displacement to 890 cc

In addition, the Garmin Motorize app is available to create your routes, save them, check real-time traffic and much more, such as listening to navigation instructions with Bluetooth headphones.

And you can also see the calls and messages received on the smartphone. Everything is controlled with the 5-position joystick and start button located on the left fist, which is also new.

All this is protected behind a new dome that offers 70 mm of vertical manual adjustment through a lever located next to the TFT screen and that we assume is adjustable on the fly.

A USB-A port is not missing, in addition to a 12V power outlet under the seat, and the standard heated grips of the current model are maintained.

And we come to the most important point, since the three-cylinder CP3 engine -4T, LC, 12V, DOHC, IE- receives an increase in displacement to 890 cc -847 cc in the current model- with internal dimensions of 78 x 62, 1 mm and that delivers 115 hp, the same as the current model.

There are many novelties received, such as the new 7″ TFT screen

It also receives internal changes, such as new crankshaft counterweights with 8% more mass, which increase the inertia and low engine, even more, and assist and slipper clutch.

Other changes are that it receives a new radiator, a new exhaust system and that the engine is mounted more inclined forward by about 5º, which loads more weight on the front axle.

For the rest, the electronics are maintained with TCS (3 levels), QSS, D-Mode (Sport, Street and Rain) and cruise control.

Its weight is 270 kg, 3 kilos more than the current model, and in terms of price it has not been communicated, nor has availability.
