He was tested after colliding with five vehicles
It happened in Valencia and although it may seem like something out of a comedy movie, the fact is real: a priest who tests positive for alcohol after suffering an accident blames the wine from the mass.
Agents of the Valencia Local Police went to the Monteolivete neighborhood after being warned that a traffic accident had occurred. Upon arriving at the scene, they found that there were five vehicles involved in the accident.
The driver causing the damage was subjected to a breathalyzer test with a positive result.
The breathalyzer gave a rate of 0.54 mg/l, when the maximum allowed in exhaled air is 0.25 mg/l; that is, the driver doubled the allowed alcohol rate.
because of work
What was striking was the excuse with which the offender wanted to justify the result of the alcohol test. He acknowledged having consumed alcohol before driving, but said that he had to do so because of his work: the driver turned out to be a priest who had given mass before getting behind the wheel.
It is recurring that on festive dates the DGT remembers how and to what degree alcohol affects drivers. The data handled by experts indicate that a 90-kilo man with a glass of wine will yield an approximate rate of 0.16 mg/ and with two it will reach 0.31 mg/l.
Based on this, a rate of 0.54 mg/l (close to reaching the limit of 0.60 mg/l from which alcohol intake is considered a crime) is much more than the wine that the priest must drink in the mass.
It should also be noted that it was only 10 in the morning when the accident occurred.
more violations
The police officers issued a fine of 1,000 euros. Given the result of the test, the fine for driving under the influence of alcohol also entails the withdrawal of six points from the driving license.
Could have been more. Witnesses to the accident ensure that the driver was using the mobile phone and exceeded the maximum speed on the street.
