At the last Milan Motor Show, EICMA 2022, the Italian firm drew attention with the announcement of a new model of which we only saw 19 and 17-inch wheels before a huge photo of the mythical mountain pass, Stelvio.
So it was quite clear Moto Guzzi’s intentions to relaunch its maxi trail that would benefit from the base of the new V100 Mandello.
Launched on the market in 2007, the Moto Guzzi Stelvio left no one indifferent both for its personal aesthetics and for being the first Maxi Trail from the Mandello del Lario brand.
And it was on the market until 2016 when, with the arrival of Euro 4, it was discontinued to be replaced the following year by the V85 TT.
Same base as the V100 Mandello
Everything points to the fact that the new Moto Guzzi Stelvio will take advantage of the same base as the V100 Mandello, of which the Offroad facet would be enhanced to fully enter the fight in the disputed category of the Maxi Trail Adventure.
This would surely mean modifications to the suspension travel, replacing the alloy wheels with spoked ones, mixed tires and adding protection elements and suitcases, among other changes.
But taking advantage of the most significant elements of the Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello such as the chassis, swingarm, Bembro brakes and of course its new engine.
A 90º V-twin, how could it be otherwise in the case of Moto Guzzi, of 1,042 cc that would provide a power of 115 CV at 9,500 rpm and a torque of more than 105 Nm,
This engine would be assisted by a sophisticated electronic assistance system and would have four driving modes; Travel, Sport, Road and Rain.
In any case, I am sure that soon we will have more news to share about the return of the mythical Stelvio.
