The DGT sent the environmental stickers to nearly 20 million drivers; but if you buy a car now you will have to buy it yourself. We tell you how and, above all, where to get the DGT label to enter the LEZ 2023.

What tags can enter the LEZ 2023

Before starting to review through which channels you can apply for the DGT environmental badge, we are going to review which ones they are and, above all, those that can enter and those that cannot enter the LEZs that are already in force and those that will begin to function In the next weeks.

Traffic distinguishes four categories based on the type of propulsion, age and emissions:

  • ZERO label (blue): battery electric vehicles (BEV), extended range electric vehicles (REEV), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) with a minimum range of 40 kilometers or hydrogen fuel cell vehicles

  • ECO label (blue and green): plug-in hybrids with a range of less than 40 km, non-plug-in hybrid vehicles (HEV), vehicles powered by natural gas (CNG and LNG) or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG)

  • Label C (green): gasoline cars and light vans registered from January 2006 and diesel from 2014. Vehicles with more than 8 seats and goods transport, both gasoline and diesel, registered from 2014

  • Label B (yellow): gasoline passenger cars and light vans registered from January 2000 and diesel from January 2006. Vehicles with more than 8 seats and goods transport, both gasoline and diesel, registered from from 2005

DGT label

Although each municipality establishes its own rules and decides which labels can and cannot go to the LEZs, the general rule is that the so-called A vehicles, that is, those that do not receive any stickers, are left out.

Cars with the Zero Emissions and ECO label have unrestricted access and those classified with the B and C label can access but in some areas, such as the ZBEEP in Madrid Centro, but they do not have free circulation, that is, they must go through an underground car park.

How to get the DGT environmental sticker

To this day, there are few cities that require the display of the DGT environmental sticker and penalize those drivers who do not have the badge. But since it is the mechanism that marks which vehicles can enter the ZBE and which ones are not, it is highly recommended to have it on hand.
