In almost all cases the price is 5 euros per sticker
The DGT sent the environmental stickers to nearly 20 million drivers; but if you buy a car now you will have to buy it yourself. We tell you how and, above all, where to get the DGT label to enter the LEZ 2023.
What tags can enter the LEZ 2023
Before starting to review through which channels you can apply for the DGT environmental badge, we are going to review which ones they are and, above all, those that can enter and those that cannot enter the LEZs that are already in force and those that will begin to function In the next weeks.
Traffic distinguishes four categories based on the type of propulsion, age and emissions:
-
ZERO label (blue): battery electric vehicles (BEV), extended range electric vehicles (REEV), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) with a minimum range of 40 kilometers or hydrogen fuel cell vehicles
-
ECO label (blue and green): plug-in hybrids with a range of less than 40 km, non-plug-in hybrid vehicles (HEV), vehicles powered by natural gas (CNG and LNG) or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG)
-
Label C (green): gasoline cars and light vans registered from January 2006 and diesel from 2014. Vehicles with more than 8 seats and goods transport, both gasoline and diesel, registered from 2014
-
Label B (yellow): gasoline passenger cars and light vans registered from January 2000 and diesel from January 2006. Vehicles with more than 8 seats and goods transport, both gasoline and diesel, registered from from 2005
Although each municipality establishes its own rules and decides which labels can and cannot go to the LEZs, the general rule is that the so-called A vehicles, that is, those that do not receive any stickers, are left out.
Cars with the Zero Emissions and ECO label have unrestricted access and those classified with the B and C label can access but in some areas, such as the ZBEEP in Madrid Centro, but they do not have free circulation, that is, they must go through an underground car park.
How to get the DGT environmental sticker
To this day, there are few cities that require the display of the DGT environmental sticker and penalize those drivers who do not have the badge. But since it is the mechanism that marks which vehicles can enter the ZBE and which ones are not, it is highly recommended to have it on hand.
If you don’t have yours, there are different ways to get it.
Buy the label at the post office
Post offices have labels for sale in physical stores and on the web. To acquire the sticker by the traditional method, it is necessary to present the DNI and the circulation permit.
The price of the sticker is five euros in both cases, but if you purchase it through the web, you must add 2.99 euros for shipping costs. The DNI and the circulation permit are also necessary, scans are sent.
Authorized workshops and specialized stores
In the centers associated with the Spanish Confederation of Repair and Related Workshops (CETRAA) you can buy the DGT sticker; also in specialized stores such as Norauto or Midas.
It can also be purchased at dealers of the Madrid association AMDA.
On the official website
Traffic has created a specific website for the sale of environmental stickers. To obtain it, you must enter the registration and send scanned DNI, circulation permit and driver’s license.
On the Ganvam website
The National Association of Motor Vehicles, repair and spare parts (GANVAM) sets different prices for members and non-members and depending on the number of labels ordered.
At associated dealers and CEA
The Madrid dealer association AMDA has signed an agreement with the DGT for the sale of environmental labels. The same as the European Automobile Commissioner (CEA); the latter sets a different price for members (7.80 euros) and non-members (8.40 euros).
