On the streets of Fukushima, Japan, there are thousands of sleeping zombie cars abandoned since 2011, when a nuclear meltdown caused by an earthquake occurred.
There are moments in history when the lives of thousands of people have been stopped by a catastrophe. One of these events took place recently, a little over a decade ago, in Japan, when the largest earthquake recorded in the Asian country caused a nuclear meltdown that forced thousands of people to abandon their homes and belongings to escape the area.
Today, time seems to have stopped in this Japanese city, which has been invaded by radiation for twelve years. This has caused, among other things, thousands of zombie cars to sleep abandoned on the streets of Fukushima since 2011.

The Exploring the Unbeaten Path YouTube channel ventured into the Fukushima Exclusion Zone to bring us a video tour of the cars that have been abandoned there for over a decade. What you can see in the video is really impressive and shows how the passage of time and the advance of nature cover the civilized earth again.
These abandoned cars forced by radiation have been there since 2011, either on property, on the street or in private enclosures. Some have been assembled by the authorities in makeshift car parks before being taken to a scrapyard for proper processing.
None of these vehicles will be saved from a complete disassembly, nor from ending up in the shredder. Among the radioactive cars that can be seen in the images stand out JDM models (from the Japanese local market), such as a silver Mitsubishi Lancer EVO VII that has been covered by brush until it almost disappeared from view.
We can also see other iconic models, such as several Subaru Imprezas from different generations, a Nissan Skyline GT-R R32 already missing several pieces from the front, and a Nissan 300 ZX parked next to the GT-R since 2011.
Other striking cars are a Porsche 911 Carrera 4 of the 964 generation that the sun is particularly affecting, fading its paint. In addition, models such as a Nissan 240SX, a Nissan Silvia S15, a Subaru WRX STi, a latest generation Volkswagen Scirocco or a Honda S2000 in apparent good condition, are also abandoned on the streets of Fukushima.
