It occupies the ninth position.
Owning a car is not something that everyone can afford. It is no longer just about the outlay involved in your purchase, factors such as the cost of maintenance, fuel, insurance, etc. also influence. A study carried out by Finn.com shows in which countries it is more expensive to have a car around the world.
In order to carry out the analysis of such disparate markets and to be able to prepare a list that is as accurate as possible, a series of factors have been taken into account that try to capture the socioeconomic reality of each country.
Thus, the most popular car in each one, its cost, the average annual salary in the country, the average price of fuel and the percentage of the annual salary that the price of the most popular car represents has been taken as a reference. With these measures, a score from 0 to 10 has been achieved, with the higher it being more expensive to own a car.
The result has been the following, the countries in the world where it is more expensive to have a car:
- Mexico
- Estonia
- Latvia
- Portugal
- Czech Republic
- Hungary
- Greece
- Israel
- Spain
- Slovakia
The appearance of Mexico in first position is due to the fact that the most popular car in the country, the Nissan Versa, costs 15,000 euros, which represents 95.58% of the average annual income. In Estonia that percentage is even higher (the Toyota RAV4 costs 31,700 euros, 99.61% of the average salary).
In the case of Spain, the Seat León has been taken as the most popular car, although in 2022 the best-selling car on the market was the Hyundai Tucson.
If we follow the data from the study, the compact costs 25,490 euros, which is 57.52% of the average salary indicated in the report, which would be 37,328 euros. In addition, 1.78 euros per liter has been taken as the average fuel price, which would be the third highest cost in the top 10, tied with that of Latvia.
