It is not a very wide offer.

The most recent innovation in terms of driving licenses in Spain is the incorporation of a new license that is focused mainly on young people, the B1. It gives access to vehicles above the category of light quadricycles, but does not allow driving cars. These are 4 cars that you can drive with the B1 permit.

Before we get into them, let’s take a general look at what features they have to have. They have to be considered heavy quads, which qualify as L7e.

For this, they must be models, either thermal or electric, with a maximum power of 20 CV, which can reach speeds of a maximum of 90 km/h and have a maximum weight of 400 kilos (not including batteries in the case electric), although they can reach up to 550 kilos if they are vehicles designed for the transport of goods.

It is a market that, with the arrival of the new card, will expand and will surely receive many new models, but, for the moment, the offer is quite limited.

That in terms of models for which the B1 is specifically needed, but, of course, all light quadricycles, popularly known as cars without a license, from brands such as Aixam are also compatible; as well as the Citroën Ami.

XEV Yoyo

It is one of the benchmarks in the category, since it is one of the first to have been launched specifically with this card in mind. With a ‘capsule’ type design and somewhat toylike, as is also the case with its direct rivals, it is an urban model 2.53 meters long and 1.5 meters wide, in which its two occupants they sit in tandem.

It is a 100% electric model, so it is legal for its weight to reach 522 kilos. It has a 10 HP motor with peaks of 15 HP. It reaches 90 km/h, has a 10.3 kWh capacity battery, an approved consumption of 7.4 kWh/100 km and a range of 150 kilometers.

Silence S04

The aesthetics of the S04 is somewhat sportier, it has a slightly more modern design, especially in terms of optics, and it presents a format with the front wheels further apart than the rear ones. With a length of 2.33 meters and a height of 1.56, its occupants are also sitting one in front of the other.

Although there is a light quadricycle version, the L7e delivers 14 kW (19 CV), has a top speed of 90 km/h and mounts two batteries of 5.6 kWh each, which are modular and removable, to facilitate recharging, and also They grant a range of 149 kilometers.

Renault Twizy 80

The Renault model was ahead of its time, to such an extent that it was almost misunderstood, but with the advent of the DGT labels and the entry into service of the LEZs, it is experiencing a second youth.

It established the bases of this type of vehicle, with extreme simplicity (it does not have doors as standard, they are an extra) and a format halfway between a car and a faired engine in which the occupants travel in tandem.

It is available in a 45 version (comparable to a moped) and 80, which requires the B1 license. It has a power of 8 kW (11 CV), a maximum torque of 57 Nm, a maximum speed of 80 km/h and a range of 90 kilometers.
