The DGT has published an image (the one we show you below) in which the 25 motorcycles that until now had been part of the Traffic Group are about to embark for Mauritania. In the image are the general secretary of the DGT, María Lidón Lozano; the General of the Traffic Group of the Civil Guard, Tomás García Gazapo; and the provincial head of traffic in Cádiz, Ana Cobos.

Official sources explain that the transfer of the motorcycles “is part of the road safety cooperation project that the General Directorate of Traffic is carrying out with the Mauritanian authorities.”

“The collaboration includes the training of police personnel in charge of traffic; the instruction to develop an effective database management system for road accidents, as well as the training and institutional support for the organization and regulation of motorcycles, tricycles and two-wheel drive vehicles. wheels,” they add.

The Civil Guard motorcycles that the DGT gives Mauritania are the same ones that are used in the School of Mérida, where traffic agents are trained. They are off-road models, with a displacement of 250 cm3.

To provide the necessary help, two experts from the DGT’s National Road Safety Observatory traveled to Mauritania in order to learn about the operational qualification needs of the GGSR (General Road Safety Group) and the protocols used in terms of data collection. data and indicators of road accidents.

After their stay, they prepared a report with the main needs of the country in terms of road safety, as well as the possible solutions that Spain could provide. Among them: computer application of traffic accidents, regular production of statistics and the creation of a regulatory framework.
