As reported by the Mossos d’Squadra, the investigation began after receiving a notice from the Servei Català de Trànsit (the alter ego of the DGT in Catalonia) that one of its radar cameras had registered a driver who, passing by with his motorcycle in front of the speed meter “voluntarily covered the license plate with his left hand while he was speeding.”
In the same statement, those responsible for road surveillance in Catalonia explain that, between March 16 and May 5, the same camera has captured this driver repeating the maneuver: cover the license plate with his hand convinced that way, the radar will not be able to identify your vehicle.

“From the analysis of the images, contrasted with the investigation efforts that were carried out later, the agents were able to fully identify the offending motorcycle,” the Mossos report. “Based on that identification, the Mossos Research and Documentation Group focused the investigation on the location of the driver and the motorcycle,” they add.
To the 13 fines for speeding, we must add the sanctions that have been imposed on this driver because during the course of the investigation the agents found that “the license plate had non-regulatory dimensions”; In addition, the driver had tampered with the exhaust pipe.

The radar that has captured the images is located on the BV-1248 highway, in the Barcelona town of Sabadell. Due to the images, the Traffic Division of the Mossos d’Squadra have denounced the driver for covering the license plate on 13 occasions, for carrying a non-regulatory plate and for a technical modification of the exhaust pipe.
The total amount of traffic fines is 3,340 euros: 2,100 euros for speeding, 1,040 euros for covering the license plate and 200 for carrying a non-regulatory license plate. In addition, eight points will be deducted from the driving license.
