Atlas is a new low cost SUV that comes from Morocco with the intention of knocking Dacia down in the market. In addition, it is a fully electric vehicle.
The search for new production centers with which to improve their profitability leads many manufacturers to look at countries such as those in central and eastern Europe, or China. Now, Morocco is one of those countries where car brands are beginning to pay attention and has already announced that it will be the place where the new Atlas low-cost SUV will be manufactured.
The vehicle is to be manufactured in Morocco by the newly created British company Atlas e-Mobility Group. It is an electric car with an SUV body that is built on a platform from a European manufacturer that, for the moment, they have not wanted to reveal their identity.
A new low cost SUV arrives from Morocco to bring down Dacia
Atlas will not be its final name, which has not been announced so far, but we know that it will be an SUV and that it will be designed and manufactured in Morocco. One of its main assets to achieve large sales volumes, in addition to betting on a crossover concept, will be its affordable price.
At the moment, the details and specifications of this new low-cost SUV that comes from Morocco to bring down Dacia are scarce. All we have seen is a teaser that advances the general lines of his image through a sketch.
These schematic lines show us some wheel arches with geometric shapes that are reminiscent of the Hyundai Tucson, a marked belt line that ends in the rear lights, a flat roof line, although inclined from the A-pillar itself towards the rear, a flat hood, thin headlights and a bumper that seems to integrate large air intakes.
So far, the company has confirmed that the new Atlas SUV will be marketed in 2026 and that it will reach “customers in the European, Middle Eastern and African markets initially.” The car will be really competitively priced and will be fully electric, so its goal is to become a direct rival to the powerful (at sales level) Dacia Duster.
As for the mysterious manufacturer that has given up its platform for the Altas e-Mobility Group to build its first vehicle, everything seems to point to it being Renault or Stellantis, although nothing is official at the moment.
