The new Aptera Launch Edition is scheduled to hit the market later this year. This will include the new electric car with solar panels.

Aptera Motors is preparing for the launch of its new electric car. This model, which is scheduled to hit the market at the end of this year, is an electric vehicle equipped with solar panels and a generous range of more than 600 kilometers. These are all the details of the Aptera Launch Edition scheduled for this 2023.

Although its arrival on the market “depends on funds”, according to the manufacturer, the launch edition focuses on energy efficiency and promises to use only a “quarter of the energy compared to other electric and hybrid cars on the road.” ”.

To achieve this outstanding efficiency, the Launch Edition is “ultralight” and has an aerodynamic design with a coefficient of just 0.13 Cx, one of the lowest in the automotive market.

The highlight of its configuration are the solar panels that cover the upper part of the body, including the rear deck, hood, dashboard and roof. With them, Aperta announces up to 64 kilometers of additional autonomy per day simply by parking in the sun. The manufacturer goes further, announcing that it is “possible not to plug it back in to charge” in daily use.

Aptera Motors did not give specific details about its propulsion system, but confirmed that it is equipped with three electric motors on its wheels that allow it to go from 0 to 100 km/h in about 4 seconds and that it can reach a top speed of 163 km. /h.

Even more outstanding is the fact that this solar car announces a range of up to 644 kilometers between charges. These battery recharges allow, from a 240 V domestic outlet, to obtain about 92 kilometers of autonomy per hour. Charging the battery from empty would take about 7 hours.

On the other hand, Aptera has announced that it already has more than 40,000 reservations and that the model is entering its fourth and final phase of development. This will allow the company to complete crash testing and validation, and, if all goes to plan, “they will quickly scale up to full-scale, single-shift production of 10,000 vehicles a year.”

Later, Aptera aims to increase this production to 20,000 cars a year and “expects eight different assembly plants to be operating around the world by 2028.”

At the moment, the company has not confirmed the price of the Aptera Launch Edition, but previously said that prices in the United States would range between $25,900 (23,800 euros) and $46,000 (42,300 euros).
