A hundred BMW iX5 Hydrogen will begin touring the world to demonstrate the effectiveness of the system
After four years of work, the Bavarian brand presents the fleet of BMW iX5 Hydrogen that will enter service this year. In this way, the BMW hydrogen car enters the most critical phase of its development before series production begins.
There will be a hundred BMW iX5 Hydrogen that the brand plans to put into operation internationally. “This active driving experience will be the first opportunity for people not involved in the development process to get a direct impression of what the hydrogen car has to offer,” they say from BMW.

BMW iX5 Hydrogen
The BMW iX5 Hydrogen is a fuel cell SUV developed on the basis of the current BMW X5. The first concept was presented in 2019, while the initial prototypes were exhibited in 2021.
The BMW iX5 Hydrogen is being built at the BMW Group’s Munich pilot plant. It offers a maximum power of 295 kW (401 hp) and goes from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 6 seconds, from there it continues accelerating to a maximum of 180 km/h.
The hydrogen necessary to feed the fuel cell, which in turn feeds the electric motor, is stored in two 700-bar tanks made of reinforced plastic. The total capacity is six kilos of hydrogen, with which the hydrogen electric car certifies a range of 504 km.
One of the main advantages of fuel cell vehicles like the iX5 Hydrogen is the recharge time. It only takes five minutes to recharge the tanks and once again have full autonomy available; for this same operation, a battery electric vehicle needs hours of waiting.
