On this occasion we present a preparation that comes to us from the Recast Moto workshop in Minsk, Belarus, responsible for this futuristic BMW R 1200 ST from 2005.
Founded in 2014 by Vadim Mulyarov, at Recast Moto they wanted to give another chance to one of the models that once received a lot of criticism, such as the BMW R 1200 ST.
This Sport-Touring featured a peculiar and sharp front that was not liked by the market, and together with the tough competition in the sector with models like the Honda VFR, it was reflected in a poor commercial response.
Although initially Vadim’s idea was to make a BMW R nineT-based preparation, the budget made them opt for a BMW R 1200 ST as a base.
But what was saved in money when buying the donor bike was spent in working hours as the R 1200 ST was not an easy bike to work on.
The three-piece chassis, the complex electrical system or the suspensions were tough challenges that they had to face to carry out this spectacular preparation.
As Vadim Mulyarov comments, the initial premise was: “Making the space between the top and bottom of the motorcycle as large as possible, while creating a futuristic silhouette of the motorcycle”
minimalist rear
So a subframe had to be created from scratch that runs from the upper sections of the engine base to the rear tire, without a single piece of that support structure showing through.
A new front fender has been installed that perfectly integrates the front wishbones, while the minimalist rear end is left floating.
Already with some clean and defined shapes, the choice of the combination of white and gold colors put the icing on the cake to this preparation,
Finally, all the electrical components were simplified so that they were hidden from view and a successful LED lighting was added. Like the new exhaust system that is also hidden at the bottom.
Quite a challenge overcome seeing the final result since it has managed to give a new opportunity to this veteran and perhaps misunderstood at the time BMW R 1200 ST.
