Carriers call a new strike from this Sunday at midnight

The carriers associated with the National Platform in Defense of the Transport Sector call a new strike from this Sunday at midnight.

Last March, carriers called a strike that paralyzed supply chains for 20 days. At that time, the truck drivers were demonstrating for the exorbitant price of fuel, which forced the Executive of Pedro Sánchez to meet and agree on the famous discount of 20 cents that has been in force since last April 1.

However, after several months of calm, the carriers associated with the National Platform in Defense of Transport have called a new indefinite strike that began at midnight from Sunday to Monday.

The new strike is not related to the price of diesel, which continues to be close to the maximum values recorded this year, but rather as a sign of protest at the non-compliance by shippers with the cost law, which prohibits working at a loss , according to the newspaper El Mundo.

The National Platform for the Defense of the Transport Sector itself has been in charge of issuing a press conference where they have announced the results of the votes of the provincial assemblies. These assemblies, with 86% of the votes, have agreed to support the initiative that entails a new indefinite strike by carriers.

The carriers had spent weeks denouncing the repeated breaches of the Transport Chain Law and the prohibition of loading and unloading by the driver, and there was speculation about the possibility of starting a new strike to protest this situation.

Therefore, probable delays in supply deliveries are expected in the coming days, although the extent of these logistical problems remains to be seen and whether they will be similar to those that occurred during the month of March.
