The Tourist Trophy (what the acronym ‘TT’ stands for) was first seen as a prototype in 1995, coinciding with that year’s edition of the Frankfurt Motor Show. It quickly caught the attention of attendees and the press, so much so that Audi made the wise decision to create a production model.
This first generation (8N) would officially hit the market in the fall of 1998 with a coupé body. A year later its convertible version would see the light, the Audi TT Roadster.

Become a commercial success, a masterpiece of German design that knocked on the doors of prestigious Italian brands linked to style and elegance, the first generation TT was the one with the highest sales volumes, especially on the other side of the Atlantic, being the United States one of its fetish markets.
The second generation of the Audi TT would arrive in 2006. The TT (8J) was considerably modernized, leaving aside that prototypical image offered by the original model and opting for a more commercial style. It was the first TT to equip a diesel engine within its range, and with it the Audi TT RS was also born, the sportiest version that would reach 360 hp in its Plus variant.
And this brings us to the present. In 2014, the Ingolstadt company decides to renew its compact sports car and introduces the third generation (8S) of the Audi TT. Even more modern, sharp and sporty, the current TT introduced the digital cockpit and became the most powerful TT in history thanks to the 400 hp RS variant with quattro drive.

Unfortunately, the flame has been extinguished over the years. The Tourist Trophy has never been characterized as a practical car, despite offering a good-capacity boot that is impressive considering the size of the vehicle. Of course, if we take into account the practicality of the model and its price, there are models that offer similar performance together with a larger capacity trunk and five useful seats for less money.
The second-hand market option
On the second-hand market, the Audi TT is much less common than you think. The few sales that have materialized in recent years have made it increasingly difficult to find used units at a good price.
And this if we talk about the third generation. If we focus on the two price models, the TT 8N and the TT 8J, we discover that the prices have been going up over the years. In part, because it is a little more complicated than a few years ago to find units in good condition and with few kilometers and, on the other, due to inflation itself.
