This is the Cupra Terramar, the latest combustion SUV from the Spanish brand, a model that will arrive in 2024 as a substitute for the current Cupra Ateca.

Just a few hours ago the young brand revealed some interesting information about the Cupra Terramar, the latest internal combustion SUV that the brand will offer on the market. This SUV will also be the natural substitute for the Cupra Ateca and will officially see the light of day in 2024. This is all the information we have so far on the new model.

The new Terramar will be one of the next launches that Cupra will carry out until 2025. It will be accompanied by other vehicles, such as the Cupra Tavascan, which will be a fully electric large SUV with a coupé-type body and Volkswagen ID.4 engineering; and the Cupra UrbanRebel, an electric utility vehicle that will occupy the space that corresponded to the Seat Ibiza in the range.

Returning to the Cupra Terramar, we are talking about a car that will be a common SUV. At the design level, the Spanish brand born in 2018 will offer a vehicle with aggressive lines and sporty features, but with a spacious interior and a good trunk.

From what we have seen so far, the Terramar will sport a front with slanted headlights and a light signature made up of three triangular light points. They will be located in an elevated position, on a bumper with large air intakes and a large central grille. In addition, the front will end in a point, with a very sharp and pronounced shape.

The bonnet sports longitudinal lines and the Cupra logo in the part closest to the front. There’s also a wide front window, a flat roof, albeit slightly arched towards the rear, and bars running along both sides of the roof.

In turn, from the side you can see the size of the windows, which have black frames and rear-view mirrors mounted on fairly large doors, with a tension line at the bottom and a body-color heel counter. All the underbody and wheel arches are finished in the same color as the exterior.

Other elements of its design are the shark fin as an antenna, the alloy wheels and a rear that, although we have not been able to see it yet, will have sharp-design LED headlights, a large trunk lid, a spoiler and a bumper. sporty style. Another striking detail is that of the C-pillar divided at the height of the ceiling.

We do not have data or images of the interior of the Cupra Terramar, but knowing that the exterior will measure about 4.5 meters long and that it will be somewhat larger than the Cupra Ateca that it replaces, it will offer a spacious interior and a good trunk. There will also be quality materials, sports seats, a digital instrument panel and a large touch screen for the multimedia system.

It will be plug-in hybrid and will arrive in 2024

What we do know is that it will be a plug-in hybrid SUV. The new Terramar will bet on a hybrid mechanics with a gasoline engine as a base and an electric drive as assistance, which will be powered by a battery. It has already been announced that it will offer about 100 kilometers of electric autonomy, that it will be automatic and that it could offer an all-wheel drive system.

The Cupra Terramar will also be based on a modified version of the Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform, which will serve as the basis for the German company’s next generation of plug-in hybrid cars. Its official launch will take place in 2024, when the commercial life of the Cupra Ateca will end, which it will replace in the product range.

It will share most of its characteristics in terms of chassis, technology and engines with the Audi Q3, a vehicle that is assembled in Hungary, where the Cupra Terramar will also be manufactured. Finally, the Terramar name refers to the Terramar Racetrack, a Spanish circuit opened in 1923 that is located in a municipality near Barcelona.

“Our new hybrid SUV seamlessly blends bold proportions with a long, striking bonnet, while the shark nose signifies revolutionary toughness and the determination to win,” said Jorge Diez, Cupra Design Director. “Thinking about how the driver will feel, we provide a unique experience with the latest technology, thanks to the oriented interior concept.”
