A year ago, around this time, DAZN announced a price increase in its plans that took everyone by surprise. Since then, things have changed at the sports streaming platform, not only its prices, but also the content it offers to both consumers and consumers.Users subscribed to one of their plans like those people who are simply registered on their OTT.
From one year to the next, sports OTT has changed. It is clear that since last year watching DAZN is more expensive, but there is one point that plays in its favour: more and more content is being watched for free. In any case, it is normal that many users are unhappy with the platform. So we are going to review how its prices have evolved so far and other points in which this streaming service in Spain has also changed.
DAZN price ups and downs
In this case, we are going to leave aside the other plans that the platform has that are focused on football seasons. As is the case of DAZN LaLiga, which to date maintains its monthly price at 18.99 euros per month and DAZN Victoria for 9.99 euros per month. Basically, because the rates that have changed are DAZN Total and DAZN Esencial.
In August of last year they raised their prices, but right now there is one of the payment methods that is a little more profitable for users:

- Monthly for 39.99 euros per month. Before the increase it was priced at 29.99 € per month.
- Annual (split payment) for 29.99 euros per month (with 12 months of permanence). Previously it cost 24.99 euros per month.
- Annual (payment in advance) for 329.99 euros, after the increase it was 349.99 euros. So they have lowered it by 20 euros in total during this time. However, before the price increase in 2023, if you opted for this method you paid a total of 299.99 euros per year (as if you were paying approximately 25 euros per month).
DAZN Essential
- Monthly for 29.99 euros per month, instead of the 19.99 euros that subscribers previously paid.
- Annual (split payment) for 19.99 euros per month (with 12 months permanence), instead of the 12.99 euros it cost before the last price increase.
- Annual (payment in advance) for 219.99 euros for the whole year, however, after the increase the price was set at 239.99 euros. So now subscribers who opt for this option pay 20 euros per year less. And it should be remembered that before the increase the total was 149.99 euros per year in advance.
In addition to all this, this year the platform launched a new service: paying to add an extra location. It’s been a while since DAZN decided to limit shared accounts, as is the order of the day on all platforms. However, the price set by the OTT is 19.99 euros per month so that you can share the account with other people who live outside your home. Something that for many is not profitable.
In addition, over the last few months the platform has launched various promotions with the idea of ​​attracting former subscribers who have cancelled their subscription. So it was possible to get a year of DAZN Essential for just 155 euros, almost the same price as before the increase. However, these are promotional options that do not last forever and are usually launched for those who have deactivated their paid subscription.
More free content, more ads
DAZN’s prices aren’t the only thing that has changed on the platform from one year to the next. Since its last increase, the platform has opted to offer more free sports and its own content to users who simply register. For example, one of the OTT’s big bets is women’s football. Although you can also enjoy documentaries and interviews in exchange for ads. And we must not forget that even those who pay have to watch ads in the middle of some broadcasts.
In any case, every week the platform itself releases a list of free content that can be viewed on its platform. From eSports and paddle tennis to championships such as the Superbike World Championship or Brave Combat Federation, among many other competitions and content. However, that does not take away from the fact that from one year to the next the price has risen so much, despite the small drop if you pay in advance.
