The Ducati Panigale family is the maximum expression of the continuous exchange of information and technology from the world of competition to production motorcycles and with each new version it continues its evolution year after year, just as it happens with the Ducati Corse prototypes. The “SP2” is the model with which Ducati takes the sportiness of the Panigale V4 to the top and with it has taken the most significant evolutionary step since its inception, improving in all aspects: aerodynamics, ergonomics, engine, frame and electronics.
The Panigale V4 SP2 stands out for its equipment with the typical technical specifications typical of the improvements made under the abbreviation “SP” (Sport Production) chosen by the Ducati engineers in the Panigale V4 2022 to create the Panigale with the best performance.
The “SP2” version has an even more powerful braking system, lightweight carbon rims, final drive and dry clutch inherited from WorldSBK bikes, racing footpegs and a series of carbon components. The bike is also delivered with a kit for track use, which includes machined aluminum covers for the removal of the mirrors, kit for the removal of the license plate bracket and open clutch cover in carbon (all for exclusive use on the track) .

Ducati Panigale V4 SP2 2022.The result is “The Ultimate Racetrack Machine”: a special model, ideal for the non-professional driver who wants to experience track days challenging their own records. The Panigale V4 SP2 is characterized by the decoration, in which the special matt “Winter Test” black of the fairings is combined with the matt carbon finish of the rims and the wings (or spoilers), contrasting with the bright red touches and the shine of the bare polished aluminum of the aluminum tank.
The wings with a double profile design are adorned with the Italian flag that also appears on the official Panigale V4 R SBK. The lower part of the fairing is distinguished by the presence of the Ducati Corse logo in the area of the new hot air extractors and by a red detail that bears the name of the bike, also present on the double upholstered black seat.
The head tube is machined from a solid block and displays the unique number of each motorcycle unit, making each model unique. The heart of the Panigale V4 SP2 is that of MotoGP origin: a 1,103 cc Desmosedici Stradale, a V4 with a counter-rotating crankshaft endowed with a lot of torque from low revs and capable of expressing the racing soul of the bike on the track. For 2022, the Desmosedici Stradale has been improved with the introduction of specific technical elements, which have increased power and improved throttle response. Thanks to these interventions and a new exclusive map, the engine of the Euro 5 version delivers 215.5 hp at 13,000 rpm, with a power increase of 1.5 hp over the 2021 Panigale V4, which goes up to 2.5 hp per above peak power at 14,500 rpm.
How to get its full potential?
Ducati Panigale V4 SP2 2022.To capitalize on the full potential of this engine, Ducati has developed specific torque curves for each gear and four different Power Modes (Full, High, Medium, Low). The Full and Low modes are newly developed, while the High and Medium settings use a new strategy. When used on the track, the performance of the Desmosedici Stradale can be further enhanced with the new all-titanium Ducati Performance racing exhaust, developed in collaboration with Akrapovic and available as an accessory. This exhaust is equipped with raised silencers along the tail and has been redesigned to increase performance and limit noise, offering everyone the opportunity to race with a fully racing exhaust even on circuits with the strictest noise limits. With this exhaust, the Panigale V4 SP2 becomes 5 kg lighter, bringing the dry weight of the bike to just 168 kg. The Akrapovic exhaust also guarantees a power increase of 12.5 hp, which brings the maximum value to 228 hp, while the maximum torque value increases to 131 Nm.
The link to the bikes that compete in the World Superbike Championship is even more evident in the “SP2” version of the Panigale V4. In fact, to the more “track-oriented” gearbox already featured on the 2022 Panigale V4, this bike adds the lightened final drive with 520 chain. The anti-rebound dry clutch is more effective in extreme use of the motorcycle on the track and provides greater fluidity in all phases of “throttle cut” compared to the wet clutch of the Panigale V4 S. The STM-EVO SBK clutch also offers the possibility of customizing the level of engine braking “ mechanical” by choosing a secondary spring different from those available in the Ducati Performance accessories catalogue.

Ducati Panigale V4 SP2 2022.The frame of the Panigale V4 SP2 includes an aluminum Front Frame that uses the Desmosedici Stradale engine as a structural element. The aluminum swingarm and cast aluminum seat bracket are directly connected to the engine. The pivot of the swingarm is positioned in such a way as to increase the anti-dive effect, which is the reduction of the height of the rear when exiting corners and when re-opening the throttle, thus stabilizing the bike under acceleration.
The suspension system features an electronically controlled Öhlins NPX25/30 pressurized fork with 125mm travel in the front end that uses a pressurized cartridge damping system derived from that of competition forks. This fork, in combination with the Öhlins TTX36 shock absorber and with the electronic steering damper, also by Öhlins, forms the second generation of the Smart EC 2.0 system characterized by the OBTI logic (Objective Based Tuning Interface) which, working “by objectives” and not through clicks, it allows the pilot a much more intuitive management than traditional systems.

Ducati Panigale V4 SP2 2022.To further improve the performance on track and the dynamic qualities of the Panigale V4, the “SP2” version is equipped with high-quality carbon rims with 5 bifid spokes, 1.4 kg lighter than the Panigale’s forged aluminum rims. V4 S. The carbon rims guarantee a significant reduction in inertia (-26% front, -46% rear) to the benefit of agility, lightness in changes of direction and greater ease when closing corners.
The Panigale V4 SP2 also features Brembo Stylema R front brake calipers, which ensure high stopping power combined with exceptional performance consistency even during long timed sessions with no change in brake lever travel. The calipers are powered by a pump that allows you to easily adjust the wheelbase in three settings to customize braking feel with the Brembo MCS (Multiple Click System) radial. The front brake lever is equipped with a “remote adjuster” device, which allows you to adjust its position by acting on a knob on the left grip, as is the case on competition bikes. Finally, in the “SP2” version, the brake and clutch levers are milled at the ends to reduce air resistance.
Another essential element that characterizes the Panigale V4 SP2 is that it comes equipped with anodized aluminum with carbon fiber side skirts. Rizoma footpegs are fully adjustable and maximize ground clearance for more effective use on the track. These racing footpegs offer a great grip on the boots, essential to ride at the limit on the circuit, contributing even more to a completely redesigned ergonomics in 2022 with the new shapes of the tank and seat, studied to improve control and make the most of the performance of the Panigale V4 both on the fastest lap and during a long session.
Electronics: Legacy of the competition

All the electronic parameters of the bike can be clearly displayed thanks to the dashboard and the “Track Evo” display mode, derived from the one used in MotoGP. On the right side of the screen there are four sectors of different colors, each one dedicated to an electronic control (DTC, DWC, DSC and EBC). These sectors light up individually when the electronics is working on a certain parameter, remaining lit for the time necessary for the pilot to identify which indicator is activated. This signaling mode facilitates the pilot’s task in understanding the control that has worked to allow him to intervene more precisely and timely in choosing the optimal level and achieve better performance more quickly.
