The Fiat 500, with all the logic in the world considering that it is an urban model, presents a range made up solely of electrified engines, with a micro-hybrid engine as an access version and two 100% electric variants that are the most interesting. Now, what are its true electric autonomy and recharging time?
The electric Fiat 500 divides its offer into two versions:
- The access one develops 95 CV (70 kW) of power and has a 23.8 kWh battery, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.5 seconds and has a maximum speed limited to 135 km/h.
- The top one delivers 118 hp (87 kW) and is powered by a larger battery, with a 42 kWh capacity, completes the sprint in 9 seconds and has a higher top speed of 150 km/h.
Therefore, its recharging times depend on which of the two versions is chosen, and in terms of autonomies, the situation is more complex, since the data varies slightly depending on the bodywork and the level of equipment chosen.
The Fiat 500 with a 23.8 kWh battery can be charged with a 2.3 kW domestic socket in between 8 and 9 hours, with a 7.4 kW three-phase with which it only needs four hours or with an 11 kWh Wallbox with which the operation is reduced to two and a half hours.
The 42 kWh 500 also adds the option of fast charging with powers of up to 85 kW, with which it fills the battery completely in just half an hour. In addition, in this mode with only 5 minutes you get 50 kilometers of extra range. With the aforementioned alternatives, per amount of kWh, more or less doubles the estimated times.
The electric autonomy of the Fiat 500
As we have commented, although they move in similar parameters as long as we talk about the same motorization, the autonomy figures of the electric Fiat 500 vary according to the chosen bodywork and the selected equipment.
Thus, we are going to make a list with all the detailed elements
- Fiat 500e sedan 23.8 kWh Action: 190 km combined / 257 km city
- Fiat 500e sedan 23.8 kWh Red: 190 km combined / 257 km city
- Fiat 500e sedan 42 kWh Icon: 322 km combined / 42 km city
- Fiat 500e sedan 42 kWh Red: 331 km combined / 470 km city
- Fiat 500e saloon 42 kWh La Prima: 313 km combined / 444 km city
- Fiat 500e 3+1 42 kWh Icon: 314 km combined / 444 km city
- Fiat 500e 3+1 42 kWh: 308 km combined / 434 km city
- Fiat 500e Cabrio 23.8 kWh Red: 190 km combined / 257 km city
- Fiat 500e Cabrio 42 kWh Icon: 306 km combined / 437 km city
- Fiat 500e Cabrio 42 kWh Red: 311 km combined / 441 city
- Fiat 500e Cabrio 42 kWh La Prima: 299 km combined / 472 km city
The difference between one and the other finishes is due to the fact that, depending on the equipment, the weight of the model varies, which negatively or positively affects the range of action. Although a priori they may seem like few differences, those 15 or 20 extra kilometers between versions can be quite important when driving an electric car.
With all the data in hand, it is clear that the Fiat with a small battery is a model designed if not exclusively, if enough for the city, while the large one does allow you to venture out of the cities and make nearby getaways.
