Flipper Zero is also known as the Tamagotchi for hackers. It is a small device that has always generated quite a bit of controversy. It has even been banned in some countries. Basically, it allows you to perform different hacking tests and compromise the security of very different devices. It uses multiple wireless protocols. The novelty is that now, after several years, a new version of the firmware has been released.

When updates of this type appear, they come with new features, functions that were not available before, or improvements that fix certain errors. In this case, it took three years to develop version 1.0 of the Flipper Zero firmware and it is now available on this small device.

Flipper Zero has new firmware

It should be noted that certain improvements have been introduced in recent years. However, this was not a stable version, so a change of this type was needed to consolidate these new features. For example, support for 89 radio protocols, 20 RFID and 4 infrared protocols is confirmed.

It also improves support for JavaScript, as well as battery life, which is expected to last up to a month in standby mode. It also offers greater stability and improved performance, among other things, when loading third-party applications. In other words, it is a more reliable device and, on paper, with fewer operating problems.

An interesting change related to third-party applications is that users will now be able to install software developed by the community from a fairly extensive catalog of applications. This saves space on the microSD, so the system will consume fewer resources.

Another improvement is related to NFC reading, which will now be faster and has greater compatibility with other cards. It also improves the aforementioned compatibility with JavaScript, as well as the use of infrared or, in general, the system so that everything works better and with greater stability.

Update the device

As always when an update like this comes out, it’s a good idea to install it as soon as possible. Not only will you get all these improvements and make your device work better, but you might also fix certain vulnerabilities that may exist. By making these changes, you reduce the risk of any problems appearing.

However, it is advisable to update it only from official sources. Be careful when downloading firmware from third-party sites, as it could be modified and pose a security problem. We always recommend going to official sources, whether it is an application, an operating system or any type of software.

To install the new firmware version 1.0, you can do it via Bluetooth, from your mobile phone, but also by connecting the device via USB cable to your PC. In the latter case, you need the qFlipper application for the process to work correctly and thus be able to have the latest version available.

In short, after several years of development, Flipper Zero now has a new version of its firmware. Although it does not have excessive new features, it does introduce improvements that affect the performance and reliability of the device. It is recommended that you install it.
