One of the most frequent uses we give to our smartphone is to go online and consult our social networks. Many times we browse web pages without knowing that we could come across a virus that could put our mobile phone at risk, and be exposed to data theft, for example. To do this, Google has implemented a function that you should know about in order to protect your privacy online.
If you fear that malware or any other type of cyber threat will enter your mobile, you can rest assured, because Google has always been known for introducing new improvements for the security of its Android phones. In the case at hand, the technology giant has launched a new initiative that promotes a function called Safe Browsing, which we detail below.
Google tests Safe Browsing
The Mountain View company is involved in the development of a new Android feature that will protect you from phishing attacks and malware that are wandering through websites, emails or messaging applications.
In this context, the visionary and Android expert, Mishaal Rahman, has received succulent information about a new feature called “Android Safe Browsing” that has recently appeared on some of its devices. As can be seen in its X (Twitter) account, Android warns that there are exploits and other threats that threaten user security.
According to Android Central’s contributing journalist, you can receive a blocking alert for this type of danger the moment you touch a link in a compatible application, such as a news application, that could take you to a fraudulent website. Thus, Google will give you the option to access or not, warning you that there may be risks of being a victim of phishing.

Likewise, the document highlights that, to paralyze these cyber misdeeds, an update would be distributed that lists which applications use the SatefyNet Safe Browsing API, a tool that is part of Google Play Services, “which determines whether a particular url “It is a known threat.”
Therefore, users will also be able to consider an option called Use real-time threat protection, which will ensure “more accurate threat detection.”
How active?
As we have highlighted in the first lines of the article, Google has incorporated Safe Browsing in certain terminals corresponding to the Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy brands. Although it will not be easy to find it, we detail how to do it through the following routes:
- Google Pixel: click on your mobile Settings, select Security and privacy and then click on More security and privacy.
- Samsung Galaxy: Go to Settings and scroll to Security & Privacy.
For the rest, the rest of the users could receive this benefit very soon through an Android update, since it is not necessary to download any third-party program to obtain it. We will have to wait patiently for Google to speak out and increase its registration on other devices. For now, it is advisable to avoid any link that may be suspicious.
