State aid is over.
2023 has arrived and with it has brought important changes to the Spanish automotive scene. On the one hand, the implementation of the new LEZs in 149 municipalities (although they are not yet effective in many), and on the other, the disappearance of state aid for the purchase of fuel. But can you get the discount of 20 cents on gasoline in 2023?
The answer is yes, but not in the way it was done until now.
The Government has removed the aid for the bulk of drivers, with the exception of professionals, who may continue to benefit from them. So, if you are an individual, the only option you have left to get the 20 cent discount (or something similar) is to go to the gas stations that offer programs with similar savings.
The gas stations that offer the discount of 20 cents on gasoline in 2023
At the moment there are five gas stations that, through the use of loyalty programs, the use of applications or cards, save a few cents on each liter of gasoline or diesel refueled.
It is curious (or not), that all of them have announced that they are extending their discounts only until March 31, 2023. Presumably, in three months they will consider that it is enough time to retain customers with their points programs.
BP
BP has established a saving of 10 cents per liter for drivers who use the ‘My BP’ program, although additional bonuses are added if the company’s premium fuel is refueled, the Ultimate range, which can go up to 40 cts/litre. The promotion will be active until March 31.
cepsa
The Cepsa promotion is based on the use of the ‘Porque TÚ Vuelves’ card. Customers who use it will have a discount of 10 cents per liter on Star fuels, while the amount rises to 12 cents per liter if it is gasoline or diesel from the premium range, which is called Optima.
In addition, it can be complemented with additional discounts, such as an additional 3% if the monthly consumption of the ‘MasterCard because YOU Vuelves’ card is greater than 300 euros.
Galp
Galp has established a discount of 25 cents per liter for those who use the ‘Mundo Galp’ mobile application (available free of charge for both Android and iOS).
Repsol
Repsol offers a discount of 5 cents per liter to all private customers who refuel at its service stations, but those who use the ‘Waylet’ application and pay with it will have a discount of 10 cents per liter. In addition, savings can be combined with other current company promotions.
Shell
The focus of Disa, Shell’s distribution company in Spain, is once again based on discounts depending on the category of fuel: the normal ones have a benefit of 5 cts/l and the premium ones of 10 cents. Of course, again it only applies if a specific app is used, ‘Mi Energía Disa’. In addition, the ‘Lidl Plus’ application adds an extra 4% discount.
