The Chinese firm Honor has just presented its flagship Magic V3 model with a price of 2,000 euros at a very delicate moment. According to data from the main consultancy firm that ADSLZone has been able to see, in the free market it does not even reach 2% of the market share and is already surpassed by other firms such as OPPO, which is experiencing spectacular growth with an 8% share, Realme, which remains with 4%, or Vivo and Motorola, which each share 3%. The podium is for Xiaomi, Samsung and Apple. With this panorama, the firm led by Bruce Huang has a complicated horizon.

It is clear that some mobile manufacturers are determined to compete in segments in which they have no power. The case of Honor is one of the most striking in recent times. Honor has always been perceived as an entry-level brand with very affordable prices, terminals given away by operators and the like. However, they continue to insist on positioning themselves in the highest range, with prices above Xiaomi, Samsung and even Apple.

The Honor Magic V3 is sold for 1,999 euros in its official store and has become the third model in this range. In 2022, they launched the Honor Magic Vs. A year later, the Honor Magic V2 arrived and now this V3 with some improvements, but with the same sales prospects as previous models. Just take a look at the numbers we have been able to obtain from the main market consultancy to see the sales disaster of these terminals.

An Honor as a gift, yes, buying it is another thing

Users are clear about it and there are three brands that have dominated the market for quite a few years now. Firstly, we have the unbeatable Xiaomi, which with its own models and Redmi, has almost 30% of mobile phone sales in Spain. Close behind is Samsung, which sells around 25% of mobile phones in our country, although on occasions it has come close to 30% and is fighting for the lead with the Chinese manufacturer.

Third place, as expected, goes to Apple. The firm with the bitten apple has many admirers and its market share fluctuates between 15% and 20%, depending on the time of year, new models and special dates (Black Friday, Christmas, etc.). That is the podium in our country, with similar figures whether we are talking about free mobile phones or those financed or given away by operators.

Honor has 3% of the Spanish market, with almost no sales in the free segment and relying to the extreme on mobile phones that operators almost give away. You only have to take a look at the MásMóvil website to check the ridiculous prices at which we can get one of these terminals. Obviously, all mid-range or low-end and without mentioning the Magic V3.

Things are so worrying for Honor in Spain that it has seen brands such as Oppo and Motorola overtake it from the left. In fact, if it continues to rest on its laurels, it will see its position sink even further due to the pressure exerted from below by Google and Nothing. Both firms have the possibility of overtaking Honor in the coming months if this trend continues.
