Young people born between the mid-90s and the mid-2000s are part of the so-called Generation Z. That is, those who are old enough to get their driving license and buy a car. But there are many studies that reveal that for young people between the ages of 18 and 28 buying a car is not a priority and that electric ones are the ones that attract their attention the most.

This is confirmed by a report from a well-known consultancy that concludes that the Z or Gen Z want to continue having the private vehicle as one of their main transportation options. However, they ask, in return, a series of conditions, the fundamental ones: that it be sustainable, connected and technological.

Why Generation Z can boost electric mobility

Statistics indicate that those born between 1995 and 2025 represent 25.9% of the world population and that in 2025 they will be 75% of the global labor force. The same report, after analyzing the responses of those surveyed, reveals that almost 8 out of 10 contemplate the option of buying a car in the coming years and six out of 10 value an electric car as their first option.

The main reason is that they consider electric vehicles to represent a “revolution” in every way.

Seven essential tips for planning a trip in an electric car

1. By design

Most electric cars opt for a groundbreaking design. The absence of a grill and other elements gives more freedom to designers who, in addition to winning over the eyes, seek to reduce aerodynamic resistance with the shapes of the zero-emission models, thus increasing efficiency.

In the result are very striking wheels, prominent front and low-profile tires.

2. By connectivity

The electric ones house a good number of technologies not available in the combustion models. An example: preconditioning. Through a mobile application, the driver can select the temperature at which he wants to find the cabin upon arrival. This not only increases comfort, it also helps increase efficiency and thus range.

You can also decide when you want the charging to start to take advantage of the cheapest sections or not reduce the amount of energy available at home if you choose to charge at home. All this without forgetting that all autonomous cars are electric.

3. For sustainability

The young people of Generation Z are also characterized by having a strong environmental awareness.

Without being a Greta Thunberg, they are more convinced that climate change is a real problem that can affect them, which is why they are more active in ecological causes. It goes without saying that the cars with the Zero label and the ECO are the ones that best respond to this need to take care of the Planet.

Brands also want ‘Gen Z’

Another consultant has asked the young Z which are the brands (in general) for which they feel the greatest predilection. In fourth place is a car manufacturer, BMW, specifically.

The brands, for their part, seem to be clear that those who are part of Generation Z; but they also know that one of the characteristics of this age group is not enjoying high purchasing power, which is why more and more manufacturers are entering the war to make cheap electric cars. The latest example, the VW ID.2all, with the Volkswagen electrifies one of the most desired models by young people, the legendary VW Polo.
