Orange TV customers are being contacted by the operator to inform them about a discount that will be applied to their next bill. There are several amounts that could be reflected depending on the type of contract and contracted package you have.
If you are an Orange customer, you have a television contract and you like football, you possibly had one of the worst Sundays of your life. Because the operator’s service did not work just at the sweetest moment: when the Real Madrid – Barcelona game was being played. Now the operator has apologized to users and promised them a discount.
Orange makes a decision
On Sunday, during the broadcast of the match, a Clásico in the final of the Spanish Super Cup, the Orange TV service collapsed. Users jumped to X and filled the platform with tweets complaining and mentioning the operator, from whom they asked for explanations for what was happening. Many people, at the same time, requested compensation.
A few days have passed in which the operator may have analyzed the situation, its seriousness and its consequences. The way in which users have acted since Sunday’s incident may also have had an influence, with many cases of people expressing their discontent.
Once the required time had passed, Orange sent a message to its customers and apologized for what happened. At the same time, it has promised compensation worth 20 euros that will be deducted from the next invoice issued. In the case of people who do not have the football package contracted, it seems that the compensation is being somewhat lower. However, in this type of case it is always advisable to be aware of the official position adopted by the operator and wait, if this is your case and they have not contacted you, for them to share this information through their profiles. You can also contact them to ask questions and clear up any doubts.
This is the situation
As can be seen in the messages that users are posting, the situation is still not exactly calm. There are those who talk about how they have received messages about compensation that refer to discounts of 5 or 16 euros, which possibly, as we said, depends on whether the rate that each person has includes the opportunity to watch football or No.
These types of service outages are not exactly frequent. If we leave aside the incident that the operator suffered at the beginning of the year, which was something different because it was related to a security hole, global cases like this have not been seen on a regular basis. The main problem with what happened on Sunday is that it was a highly anticipated final. It was not just any Super Cup final, but rather it brought together the two most popular football teams in Spain and represented the opportunity to enjoy an “unexpected” Clásico.

There were many families who had gathered to watch football that night and young people who were impatient to see their favorite football stars fighting in a duel that, as could be seen, was high. The match began with no problems being seen on Orange, but once the first goals were scored the connection to Orange TV was disconnected and the problems began. On some televisions you could see how the interface tried to reconnect and maintained a static image waiting for it to get the signal again.
Users, hopeful, waited to see if the incident was resolved and they could enjoy the rest of the game. The problem is that the signal only came back at the end, so it wasn’t exactly a satisfying experience. And occasions like this are not as common as you might imagine.
