Ignite 2024, Microsoft’s developer event, is coming: is Windows 12 coming?

Like all Internet giants, Microsoft has its own events where it presents its new projects and services, as well as its future plans, to all its users. One of the most important Microsoft events is the Ignite event, an annual event designed for developers and technical users where everything related to the cloud, Artificial Intelligence and, of course, the future of the company is discussed. The new Ignite 2024 is almost here, and this is what we expect from it.

Last February, Microsoft confirmed the date of the event so that anyone interested in attending could make room in their diaries: November 19-22. It also confirmed what was no secret: that it was going to be in Chicago. However, it did not provide much more information about the event until today.

What we expect from Ignite 2024

According to the new website that Microsoft has set up for this event, we can get an idea of what we can expect from it. As expected, it will be a very AI-focused event, with numerous changes, improvements to the Azure cloud and Copilot. But that will not be the only thing that will make its debut at this event.

Microsoft will take advantage of the opportunity to present its new solutions for developers and IT, solutions designed to modernize and manage intelligent applications, protect all data managed by all infrastructures and accelerate productivity and the development of new solutions.

In addition to all the products and services that will be presented, the company’s biggest names will also be in attendance, including its CEO, Satya Nadella.

The event is approaching, and tickets are on sale

Microsoft Ignite is not an event for everyone, quite the contrary. In order to attend it, you need to have a badge from the company itself, which you will have to buy from the new website that has been set up for this purpose.

Passes cost a whopping €2,225, and provide access to all events taking place between November 19 and 22. Additionally, it is possible to purchase a special pass for $325, which will give you access to the sessions on November 18. And another, for an additional $525, includes some extra extra features, such as access to the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place. Even a final DLC, for $1,525, to gain access to the floor where Ignite Expo takes place.

Other years, tickets for this event sell out within days despite their prices. And this year, with Windows 12 buzzing around the web, they will probably sell out even sooner. However, is there really a chance of seeing the new operating system?

Windows 12: necessary and mysterious

Next year, Windows 10 will come to an end, and only Windows 11 will remain on the market. This is something strange on the part of Microsoft, which has almost always maintained at least two operating systems at the same time. For this reason, and because Windows 11 is already starting to add years, there have been rumors for months about the announcement of its successor: Windows 12.

However, although we were expecting a presentation of this operating system this summer (just like what happened with Windows 11), in the end it has not been the case. And, unfortunately for many, it is very unlikely that this new OS will be presented at this new Ignite event, since, as we have explained before, it is focused on AI and other company services, not operating systems.

We don’t 100% rule out a star-studded presentation of the new OS, but in our view, it’s highly unlikely to happen.
