The shorts had to freely interpret the contest’s motto: ‘Good night, wake up people’ and, as explained by the director of InOut Distribution, Josemari Martínez: “The theme was a great challenge. As it is something very specific and concrete, in this contest ideas have prevailed over technique”.

Verónica Somodevilla, Italfarmaco’s Institutional Relations Manager, stated that “for Italfarmaco, participating in this project was an opportunity to value people’s sleep and raise awareness in society of the importance of sleeping well and, at the same time, supporting to the audiovisual world. The contestants have shown great talent in their work.”

Synopsis of the awarded shorts and where you can see them

We give you a brief summary of the awarded shorts, although we recommend that you see them in the link that you will find at the end:

  • The last words: A director trying to find the last words of his script is visited by Shakespeare, Cervantes and the Moor from Venice, who will try to help him. The writer will hide the presence of these three figures in one night, where reality and madness due to lack of sleep are intermingled in a humorous atmosphere.

  • Heleno: Sergio and Elena are a happy couple. One night, Elena begins to talk and act strangely. The next day, the two joke about it. Things start to get complicated when Heleno shows up in her life. This entity will use old macho patterns and new liberal ideas to destroy Sergio and his relationship with Elena.

  • Eden: Adam lives locked in a room and every day “the voice”, a robotic device that is on the wall, asks him questions about his dreams; until one day an ant will completely change his reality.
