It will be necessary to show the average price in the country.
The Italian government has announced a series of measures that seek to fight speculation in the price of gasoline and diesel, something that derives from the increase in its rates, which in some service stations has led to a cost of 2, 5 euros a liter of diesel.
The most striking decision approved by the Council of Ministers has been that, together with the price at the gas station, each distributor will have to show the national average price of this fuel that is published every day by the Ministry of Business.
In this way, every driver will be able to see in a simple way if they are at par or how much extra price they have in said service station with respect to the national average, in order to be able to decide on their own if they prefer to go to refuel elsewhere.
It will be mandatory for all fuel distributors and, in case of not complying with the standard, sanctions will be applied. It has not been specified what it will be, for the moment, but it has been announced that, in case of recidivism, suspensions will be applied in the activity that will go from one week to 90 days.
In a complementary way, the help of gasoline vouchers has been extended until March, which, provided by the companies, grants 200 euros for fuel to each worker.
The gas station industry disagrees
Gas station associations do not agree with the measure and from the Italian Autonomous Federation of Gas Stations (FAIB) point out that the increase is due to the fact that special taxes have been reintroduced so that the State finances itself and that the previous Government, chaired by Mario Draghi, had eliminated.
The data is the data: on January 1 the price of gasoline and diesel rose an average of 16 cents compared to the previous week, to stand at €1.81 and €1.86/l. However, what is worrying is that certain places, such as highways, have been able to see figures of up to 2.5 euros per liter in the case of diesel.
