I’ve tried Twitter Premium, but I won’t do it again for these 4 reasons

The social network Twitter, now renamed X, has undergone an enormous transformation after the arrival of Elon Musk. Now, you can get blue verification, message editing, or remove ads, among others, as long as you pay per checkout. I have tried Twitter Premium (or X Premium, it doesn’t matter) and I ended up canceling the subscription for all these reasons.

Elon Musk has taken a flamethrower from his company Bored Company and has entered Twitter, destroying everything. There is no decision that has been made that has generated controversy and discomfort among users of the social network.

Many advertisers have abandoned the social network due to Musk’s decisions and his messages on it. Although it continues to be one of the most important, there are many who have left tired of the drift it is taking.

Paying for X Premium doesn’t make the slightest sense

Before looking at the problems I’ve encountered, let’s look at a little more what this mode offers. The first thing you should know is that Premium has a price of 9.68 euros per month, or 101.64 euros per year (8.47 euros per month). This plan offers the following options:

  • Have access to Grok 2 AI.
  • The number of ads in “For you” and “Following” are reduced by half.
  • Momentum of responses.
  • Longer posts and edit them.
  • Playing video in the background and downloading videos.
  • Obtaining income from publication.
  • Access to statistics and different tools.
  • Blue verification stamp.
  • Uploading videos of higher quality and longer duration.

These are the most interesting advantages that we will receive if we pay for the Premium on this social network. But is it really worth paying for?

twitter x premium prices

You will see ads even if you pay

Initially, Premium mode did not have ads, but the social network has modified this aspect. Now, you will be shown ads, but less than if you had other types of plans. To enjoy the social network without ads you have to pay for the Premium+ subscription mode, which costs 203.28 euros per year (16.94 euros per month).

Normally, if one pays for this type of service, one seeks to have a cleaner interface, without advertising. Unfortunately, that is not the case. It is true that the number of ads is reduced, but they are still present and to eliminate them completely you must spend twice as much money. It doesn’t pay off.

Advertising revenues do not compensate

Twitter now distributes advertising revenue on the social network only among those with a Permium account. This seems like a positive thing, but in the end it backfires. When an opinion is given that may be controversial or not liked by a part of the followers, they end up making you feel that you are launching the message exclusively to make money.

It doesn’t matter, if you have previously published similar messages on the social network, suspicion is constant. The conversation becomes more toxic and, logically, less attractive. Additionally, many interactions that could be valuable end up diluted.

Lose verification after making changes

One of the changes I like the least has to do with verification. The fact of receiving the blue check, simply for paying, completely distorts the original function of this element. But, in addition, receiving this badge ends up being more of a problem than an advantage.

Making an insignificant change to the profile, such as modifying the banner or profile image, causes the verification to temporarily disappear. Something that in the past only happened if you changed the username of the social network (the “@”).

Why pay if I don’t need it?

I am not going to upload entire movies in 1080p resolution, nor am I going to copy entire chapters of Don Quixote. If my message is longer than the number of characters allowed on the free plan, I have the option to spawn a child. I can also upload photos and videos that complement the message, so why pay?

If I’m still going to eat advertising, they’re going to remove my verification if I change an image or they accuse me of posting messages just to generate visits, why am I going to pay? The truth does not offer anything really valuable, for which one can decide to pay.
