Which one suits your needs better, Kia XCeed or Ceed Tourer? A priori the same model, the differences between the two are more prominent than it may seem.

If you’re looking for a new car, maybe you’ve considered going with the market trend and going for a crossover, or maybe you prefer the practical shapes of an estate body. If you are in this situation, today we want to analyze which model best suits your needs: Kia XCeed or Ceed Tourer?

Although both models are part of Kia’s range of compact vehicles, in reality their approaches are very different. That is why, depending on your needs, it is very likely that only one of them meets your expectations and by analyzing them more closely you will discover which is the one that best suits you.

To do this, we are going to resort to a technical comparison where we will analyze sections such as the dimensions, the trunk, the range of engines, the standard equipment and the prices. Finally, we will draw some conclusions that will help you better guide your next purchase.

Dimensions

Let’s start with the Kia XCeed, a crossover that has just been officially renewed through a restyling and that is presented with a body that measures 4,395 mm long, 1,825 mm wide and 1,485 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,650 mm.

On the other hand, we have the Kia Ceed Tourer. It is the familiar version of the Kia Ceed, a model with 4,600 mm in length, 1,800 mm in height, 1,465 mm in height and 2,650 mm in wheelbase. Like the XCeed, the Ceed Tourer got a facelift late last year.

Trunk

The trunk is decisive when choosing a new car. In the case of the XCeed, we are talking about a compartment with a volumetric capacity of 425 liters, expandable to 1,380 liters by folding down the rear seat backrests.

In the case of the Ceed Tourer, its trunk is clearly larger, so it has 625 liters of capacity with five seats enabled, and almost 1,700 liters once the second row seats are folded.

Engines

The range of engines is also very similar in both. In the XCeed we find a 120 hp 1.0 T-GDi, a 160 hp 1.5 T-GDi and a 136 hp 1.6 diesel (the latter with Mild Hybrid technology). We also have a 204 hp 1.6 T-GDi and a 141 hp plug-in hybrid version with 50 km of electric range. There are manual or double-clutch automatic gearboxes, all front-wheel drive.

Meanwhile, the Ceed Tourer does the same with the 120 hp 1.0 T-GDi, the 160 hp 1.5 T-GDi Mild Hybrid and the 136 hp 1.6 microhybrid diesel. There is no sports version, but there is a 141 hp plug-in hybrid with 50 km of electric range. All versions are front-wheel drive and are linked to six-speed manual transmissions or seven-speed DCT automatic transmissions.

Standard equipment

Among the most outstanding equipment of the Kia XCeed (Concept finish) we have electric windows, 16-inch wheels, light and rain sensor, cruise control, frontal collision warning, lane keeping assistant, tire pressure control, multimedia screen 5-inch, fabric upholstery and LED daytime running lights, among others.

With regard to the Kia Ceed Tourer (Concept finish) we find the electric windows, high beam assistant, fatigue detection, 16-inch wheels, light and rain sensor, lane following assistant, cruise control, warning of frontal collision, tire pressure control, fabric upholstery and multimedia system with a 5-inch screen, among others.

Prices

Kia XCeed PHEV and Kia Ceed Tourer PHEV

Kia XCeed prices start at 20,600 euros with promotional discounts already applied if you choose the Concept version of access to the range with the 120 hp 1.0 T-GDi engine and six-speed manual transmission.

By contrast, the Kia Ceed Tourer has a starting price of 20,800 euros. In this case, it is also the Concept version, with the 120 hp 1.0 T-GDi engine and six-speed manual gearbox.

conclusion

The Kia Ceed Tourer is 205mm longer, 25mm narrower and 20mm lower than the Kia XCeed, yet both feature the same wheelbase. The family Ceed also offers an additional 200 liters of luggage space without giving up the rear seats, and an additional 300 liters when the rear seats are folded down.

In the engine section, the offer is similar in both Kia models, with the exception that the XCeed includes a 204 hp sports version that is not available in the Ceed Tourer. The standard equipment is practically identical and the difference in price is only 200 euros, the XCeed being cheaper.

Now that you know all the features of the Kia XCeed and the Ceed Tourer, define what your needs are and choose the model that best suits them. If you’re looking for space and roominess, the Ceed Tourer is the smarter choice, but if you’re going for a hipper crossover design and looking to save some money on your purchase, the XCeed is also a good choice.
