Insurance has become one of the most important verticals for operators, who increasingly allow the contracting of more and more services outside of telecommunications. The MásMóvil Group, with a presence in this field, is now expanding its area of activity.
In the absence of the merger with Orange, which should open a new scenario as both groups collaborate with different insurers, the yellow operator thinks in the short term and launches MásMóvil Mediación de Seguro.
MásMóvil Insurance Mediation
MásMóvil has created MásMóvil Insurance Mediation to mediate health and SME insurance, in which it is not present at the moment. Although health insurance is common among what operators offer, those for SMEs are not so common.
This new resulting entity has Xfera Móviles as shareholders and its sole administrator is Meinrad Spenger, CEO of Grupo Más Móvil.
To operate these services for its 15 million customers, a bid was opened between insurers, among which companies such as Mapfre, Caser, Allianz and Zurich would have participated.
Last February, it began the procedures for this bid, where it announced that it was “to receive offers from entities interested in a digital marketing agreement in the home, SMEs and self-employed sectors, in which it is not present now, and in the renewal of payment protection coverage«.
Win-win for both parties
One of the main objectives of these agreements for insurers is to achieve a direct route to the client base of their partner, which can be a bank, a department store or a telephone company, as in this case.
In return, insurers pay their partners marketing commissions, something highly valued in business diversification.
MásMóvil has a health insurance agreement with DKV, a subsidiary of the German reinsurer Munich Re, and in payment protection it is allied with MetLife. In the event of marketing a home with Zurich, it would be a more natural step after the future merger, since Orange maintains a current agreement with Zurich.
