The Spanish telecommunications market is experiencing an extreme situation for the four major operators. With the CPI at values we had forgotten about, supplies like electricity skyrocketing in price and smaller operators busting prices, everyone will be forced to adjust their rates in one way or another. However, not everyone will approach the issue in the same way. In this case, we have had exclusive access to the price adjustment that the MásMóvil Group will carry out as of January 2023.

As we already know, Vodafone was the first to announce a general price increase, adjusting its rates to the CPI at the beginning of the year. Somewhat later we learned that Movistar would do something similar, that is, a general price increase, but in this case always below the CPI and with different increases depending on the rate. The MásMóvil Group is the third to sign up to these price adjustments, but it will do so in a much less drastic way than its rivals and it will affect most of its customers very little (or not at all).

Adjustments to additional products and services, not everything

As ADSLZone has been able to find out exclusively, the main brands of the MásMóvil Group (see Yoigo or MásMóvil itself) will make an adjustment in some of the prices of their services as of January 2023. The headline is that a general increase will not be announced prices and that will affect a small percentage of customers. Of the operator’s 15.2 million customers, only 20% will see upward changes to their bill. The remaining 80% will continue to pay the same price as before.

Before continuing, it is important to emphasize that Pepephone customers will be completely free of any type of increase. Returning to the increase, this will not apply to customers who have convergent packages without additions or additional lines. For example, if we are paying 59 euros per month for 300-megabyte fiber and mobile with unlimited data or calls, we will continue to pay that amount for now.

The change will be applied to products such as additional lines or Yoigo Duo. These are the mobile lines that can be had at special prices for already having a convergent line. The operator is aware that many of these services and products have not changed their prices in years, so it considers that it is time to make an upward adjustment.

The rise in the price of these products will always be less than the CPI, that is, more in line with Movistar than with Vodafone. In addition, in most cases we will have a benefit associated with this price change, such as an increase in browsing speed, the data allowance for browsing or the minutes spent on calls to talk.
