The firm of the star has presented the new Mercedes B-Class 2023, an update that introduces more technology and equipment in the compact minivan.
Mercedes’ compact car range has proven to be one of the company’s most successful sales branches. This family includes different proposals, from a compact to a saloon, a family, an SUV and a minivan. And now, this range is in full update phase. One of the first to receive this restyling has been the Mercedes B-Class 2023.
The Stuttgart firm has introduced subtle changes at the design level, interior improvements, more technology and standard equipment, and the latest advances in safety systems and driving assistance in the new Mercedes B-Class. They have also renewed the Mercedes Class A, which shares most of its engines and technical characteristics with the minivan.
Mercedes B-Class 2023: facelift to the compact minivan
Starting with the aesthetic, most of the changes are concentrated in the optics. Mercedes has redesigned the LED headlights with a new light signature both at the front and at the rear. The B-Class Sports Tourer also features new wheel designs up to 19 inches, up to ten exterior paint finishes and new aerodynamic spoilers attached to the rear sides.
The interior of the Class B receives some major changes. For example, a redesigned center console and a new steering wheel with double tactile spokes inspired by the company’s latest releases, such as the Mercedes C-Class, have been fitted. It is finished in nappa leather as standard and can be heated as an option, another novelty.
Interior colors and materials have also been worked on to offer greater customization. The new Mercedes B-Class 2023 now has ARTICO upholstered seats in the range access version, leather in the Progressive version and ARTICO/MICROCUT in the interior AMG Line variant. The trunk continues to offer between 445 and 1,540 liters of capacity.
More standard equipment and better distributed
Regarding the equipment of the 2023 B-Class, Mercedes has introduced various equipment packages that simplify your choice, grouping the most common in the same pack.
Standard equipment has also been upgraded from the entry-level version, now offering rear view camera, multimedia screens, USB package and nappa leather steering wheel. From the Progressive version, the equipment includes LED headlights, a seat with lumbar support, a parking package, a mirror package and a hands-free tailgate.
The new generation of the MBUX multimedia system is now available in the B-Class with three display modes (Classic, Sporty and Discreet), three modes (Navigation, Assistance and Services) and seven color worlds.
Another novelty is the integration of a fingerprint sensor that allows the driver to be identified, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android auto wireless. The “Hey Mercedes” voice assistant has also been updated, another USB-C port has been integrated, and the USB charging power has been increased even more.
The B-Class also has new driving assistance systems with the update of the Driver Assistance Package, which includes the lane keeping assistant with active steering assistant and the trailer maneuver assistant.
Updated and electrified engine offering
Finally, the range of engines has been updated and electrified. The 48-volt micro-hybrid system is now available across the entire range of petrol engines. It has increased its power by 10 kW, which improves its performance and efficiency, and is offered in the B 180 (136 hp), B 200 (163 hp) and B 220 4Matic (190 hp) versions.
The engine offer is also made up of diesel engines, such as the 116 hp B 180 d; the 150 hp B 200 d and the 190 hp B 220 d, all of them with eight-speed automatic gearbox.
Finally, the 218 hp B 250 e plug-in hybrid version offers an optimized battery charging capacity: in addition to 3.7 kW, the battery can be charged with alternating current at 7.4 kW and 11 kW. In direct current, it supports loads at 22 kW, which allows it to go from 10% to 80% of the battery level in 25 minutes. The approved electric autonomy (WLTP) is 67-77 kilometers.
At the moment the price of the new Mercedes B-Class has not been announced, but the current model without restyling is sold from 35,166 euros.
