La Resistencia was one of the star programs of Movistar Plus+. After six years as a presenter, David Broncano said goodbye to the channel to go to Televisión Española. However, the blue operator wanted to give a second life to the Instagram account.

Succeeding on social media is not easy, but La Resistencia managed to do it thanks to all the content they uploaded to Instagram. Now that the show has come to an end, Movistar was not willing to throw away a profile with 3 million followers and have decided to recycle it.

A few hours ago, the company surprised us by changing the name of the account to Movistar Plus+ and uploading a video promoting more content from the platform. With the reel, the operator makes it clear that its television service is not going away and has much more entertainment to offer, even if Broncano leaves. They do so accompanying a phrase by Raúl Cimas:

«Cimas already said it, this social media thing is like feeding pigeons. So here we are, we take care of the bill, the parking space and we talk about movies, series, documentaries and sports.»

This change of direction for the brand will serve to give more voice to the entertainment offered by Movistar Plus+. It should be noted that the verified profile they had until now did not reach 400,000 followers. But, with La Resistencia, they will be able to reach many more people. Even if there are people who stop following the account after the change, there will probably be many who stay and feel attracted to signing up for the streaming platform.

The La Resistencia channel is still running

Movistar has taken advantage of the popularity that La Resistencia had on Instagram. But, for the moment, it has not done the same on X or on any other social network where it also had a large presence. Nor have they done anything with the channel that broadcast the program’s content every day and at all hours.

If you look at the platform’s television programming, the La Resistencia channel on Movistar Plus+ remains. Currently, we can continue watching the programs that were already broadcast. The operator has not mentioned whether it intends to remove it or has it spoken about it. But the fact that they have used the Instagram profile to promote their platform does not seem to be affecting their own channel.

Movistar Plus+ the resistance

It is possible that the firm will end up converting the channel to take advantage of its original contentHowever, this is just a guess and what ends up happening with the gap left by La Resistencia on Movistar Plus+ remains to be seen. Only time will help us answer the questions that remain after the show’s ‘goodbye’.

The date for Broncano’s new programme on Spanish Television has already been set

The fact that La Resistencia has ended on Movistar Plus+ does not mean that we will not have something similar very soon. The truth is that the end of one of the most successful programmes on the operator’s television service was due to RTVE signing David Broncano to move to La 1.

YOTELE has exclusively announced that the new Broncano entertainment space will premiere on La 1 next September 9thIt will be in prime time access, competing with El Hormiguero, from Antena 3, or Babylon Show, from Telecinco, which will also be arriving on our televisions very soon.

The name La Resistencia will not be kept, but its production company, Encofrados Enconfrasa, has a very similar proposal. They recently registered the brand ‘La resiliencia’ and that could be the new name they use to refer to the programme on La 1. However, it is still a mystery how they will adapt the mischievous and carefree humour of La Resistencia to Public Television.
