In recent years, Movistar has had some failures in projects directed by Chema Alonso. One of them, the virtual store tu.com, is now relaunched, betting on being a showcase to the world of products and solutions led by Telefónica Innovación Digital.

Created in 2020 with the intention of becoming an e-commerce of technological products that could compete with majors in the sector such as Amazon or MediaMarkt, Movistar makes a 180º turn to you.com and now it adds its own products and digital solutions to be a showcase to the world. “The new era of tu.com. We offer you, on a single platform, the innovative technological products and services developed by Telefónica Innovación Digital (TID).”

New online store

Movistar is going to launch a new online store on the market that they are going to call Tu, heir to that tu.com that they silently launched on the market in 2020 and which has not yet achieved the expected results.

Telefónica headquarters in Las Tablas (Madrid)

This new online store from the Telefónica operator aims to be a showcase to the world of products and solutions developed by the teleco with global reach. At the forefront of this initiative will be the Telefónica Digital Innovation division, led by the CDO (Chief Digital Officer) of the multinational, Chema Alonso.

This renewal of the Tu concept aims to go beyond the original sketch, a store where technological products were sold, trying to be an attempt at a new Amazon. Yes, some of its old pillars will be maintained, such as e-commerce of refurbished products where the circular economy is favored and technological devices are given a second life, now under the name of Ovio Market.

Virtual latch as a star product

One of the star products developed by Telefónica Innovación Digital and to which Movistar Tu will be given visibility will be the Latch virtual latch. Conceived as a security switch for your digital life, this cybersecurity solution from Telefónica acts as a second authentication factor, based on a temporary pin, giving us a second layer of security.

At the user level, the free Latch app allows you to have control to “turn off” and “on” your online services when you are not connected. Thus, protect your online accounts and services, lock them.

AutoverifAI, detection of content generated by AI

Another of the solutions that will be sold in the Tu digital store will be AutoverifAI, a tool to detect content generated by Artificial Intelligence. The tool works on three of the most worrying pillars of the emergence of AI in our lives: it allows us to detect deepfakes in videos, images generated by AI and text generated by chatbots such as ChatGPT.

«Generative AI tools, in the hands of millions of people, make it easier than ever for the creation of fake news, deepfakes and other types of propaganda to spread quickly on social networks and cause harm to people and society. “AutoVerifAI helps users navigate the new world of media and content, increase clarity, form more informed opinions, and strengthen our democracies.”
