The Need for Speed saga has been on an up-and-down path for a long time (Payback was not well received, but the last installment, Heat, came back), but Electronic Arts has not given up on it and, in fact, has signed Criterion , developers of Burnout, to shape the new video game in the franchise: Need For Speed Unbound.

Its announcement took place a few days ago, but the company, instead of presenting it long in advance, has shown it to the world just a few months before it hits stores: its launch is scheduled for December 2, 2022 .

Its launch trailer has drawn powerful attention for its own visual style, as it combines the real image with ultra-detailed environments and cars, with characters and visual effects created with the celshading technique, which results in a differentiated identity.

Although hardly any gameplay has been shown, it is clear that it will continue betting on arcade, direct and fun driving; in which techniques such as skidding and the use of the turbo will be key to winning the races.

As usual, it will take place in an urban environment, apparently at night, there will be a police presence to flee from, and the trailer features rapper A$AP Rocky, who will have a significant role in the story mode.

The list of vehicles available from the start of the game has also been revealed (future DLC will surely complete the lineup) and will be close to 150, with current and past models from brands such as Alfa Romeo, BMW, Chevrolet, Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren , Nissan or Porsche, among others.

The platforms on which Need For Speed Unbound will be released are PS5, Xbox Series and PC, making it the first exclusive release of the franchise for the new generation of consoles.
