The streaming battle is not over. In the previous results, Netflix was closer than ever to its strongest rival in Spain: Prime Video. However, during the third quarter of 2024, it seems that the red platform finally catches up to its great competition throughout the year. Right now, they jointly lead against the rest of the platforms such as Disney+, Max, Movistar Plus+….

Both streaming services share leadership within the Spanish market. Since the first quarter of 2024, Prime Video has been at the top of the top, and the same during the second quarter of the year. Although, finally, Netflix has managed to add more advantage and position itself at the same level as its rival.

Prime Video and Netflix lead together

The third quarter of 2024 makes one thing clear: users enjoy the same amount of Netflix as they do Prime Video. According to the latest data report on streaming market shares in Spain from JustWatch, both platforms are at the top in our country with a share of 23%, and not only this, but they are quite far from the following streaming services.

During the previous report, Prime Video had 24% compared to Netflix’s 23%. On the other hand, for this last quarter, both platforms have the same market share. A percentage that shows how equal things are between these two services in our country.

It seems that the releases of the last quarter on Netflix have paid off, as it maintains the pressure against Prime Video. For example, series such as ‘The Perfect Couple’, ‘Nobody Wants This’, ‘Breathe’, the fourth season of ‘Emily in Paris’ or the final season of ‘Umbrella Academy’ have been released. On the part of the Amazon streaming platform, it loses some ground, despite its efforts with premieres such as ‘Those About to Die’, ‘Ugly Betty, the story continues’, ‘Finally’, ‘Batman: Caped Crusader ‘ and the second season ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’.

How are the other platforms doing?

As for the rest of the streaming services in Spain, third place goes to Disney+. Although, in fourth place, and with only 2% less, is Max. So this result shows how both platforms compete to be the third most followed in our country. Of course, it should be noted that this difference has been maintained since the previous quarter of 2024.

On the other hand, there is a surprise: Apple TV+ is ahead of Filmin during the third quarter of the year. In the previous report, both platforms were on par with 7%, now this is the result: Apple TV+ with 8% and Filmin with 7%.

Next, there is Movistar Plus+ with 5% and SkyShowtime with 4%. And there is one more detail, since these last two platforms also tied during the second quarter with 4%. Therefore, the Movistar platform is placed ahead on this occasion. The other remaining 3% is for the rest of the services that can be enjoyed in our country.
